furnace filter?

Just wondering if and where there is a filter for the furnace on our 2015 Montana 3582RL. Does anyone have some advise on this? I see slots in the step risers, but wanted to check before I start tearing things apart looking. Thanks in advance for any advise.

I have never seen or heard of any of my RV's having one. Some of the old AC's had a foam filter. On my last camper I had to replace the circuit board and never saw any type of filter. The heat exchanger is quite different than that of what is in my stick frame home. Maybe somebody else will have better info than me.

No filter as it comes from the factory. Some have removed the grills under your steps to the bedroom and installed make shift filters. That is pretty useless on my 3150RL as the grill under the fridge also is a possible return air source for the furnace.

At a rally I attended a seminar presented by Suburban and they recommended no filters because it would restrict air flow. They said the furnace was designed to be filter free

Check with Ozz. He's an HVAC guy and installed them on his rig and I think can direct you to pictures.

I have the same rig. I installed filters behind the intakes under the steps. I also insulated the wall between the basement and the area under the bedroom. The furnace has plenty of makeup air as the area it is in is quite large and open.

I have read that for summer, some have blocked the steps to prevent losing cold air, but if you run the furnace, this should not be blocked. These holes are a major source of recycling air to heat in the rig.

We don't block the vents in any case so it's not something else I need to worry about. While I am not aware of a filter for the furnace, I use standalone electric heaters that need minimal cleaning when we want to keep propane usage low. Also, our living room ceiling A/C does have a filter that I clean out regularly during summer usage.

A filter is safe to use, there is no problem with installing one, I have had one I my unit since '07
The crud floating in the air either gets caught in the filter, or on your heat exchanger in the furnace, I prefer to have clean air in my living space and keep the furnace clean. When the heat exchanger gets hot, the animal hair, lint, and dust gets burned onto the metal.
I cut down a pleated filter and installed it behind the wood grate
