IMHO, there are two places every American needs to go...Arlington to watch the changing of the guard and "The Wall."

Easy to forget this weekend isn't about camping and BBQ.

Been to both twice and can't go back to "the wall" a third time. Emotions get way out of whack.

Memorial day was the day when many years ago as a boy I would accompamy my Uncle Ernie to the North side cemetary In Pittsburgh, Pa pulling a wagon full of American flags that he and his comrades would place on the graves of their fallen WW2 comrades many of them which they knew personally as it was their generation that lie there.I remember the sea of flags on those days and my Uncle reminding me that we should never forget these men.we never did including my Uncle Ernie who now lies there with them. We fly the flag in his and all the fallen honor.

Changing of the guard is awesome but the funerals they do are amazing. My Father is buried there and I was totally impressed from start to finish. When I had to live in Pa. I took my kids to DC at least once a summer and hit the Wall everytime we went. If you want chills hit the Korean War memorial at dusk as the lights come on and hopefully there is a mist coming up. That scene gave me major goose bumps with the shadowey lights shining up thru the mist on that platoon.

Thanks all for reminder of the holiday. It is about our fallen heroes and the ultimate sacrifice for this great country. We seem to complain a lot about things going on in our country but I don't believe there is one person in this club that would rather live anywhere else than the great United States of America.

Will be making the trip to DC this fall on the way to Florida for winter. The Wall and the Tomb is a deffinate. The Wall hits you pretty hard but I seem to want to keep going back.

Thank you to all our miltary people for the work and dedication they give to this great country. Prayers are sent to all our troops for there safe return.
