Curtain Rod removal
DW decided after 4 yrs wants to wash curtains. I can't convince her it would be easier to buy new Montana. Anyway rods are the same old fashioned type all us Seniors are used to, but I can't get them to come off the bracket. Anyone been able to get curtains off the rod so the DW can wash them?

If you are talking about the bottom of the curtains...they just slide off, easier than it looks.

Have heard that you need to take down the valances on SOME models, to get to the rods.
Others have curtains velcroed up in there.

On some of my windows, besides the velcro at the top, the factory also drove a screw through some of them. Not all of them are that way, hmmm. The screw head that was used on my rig have a "square" head. I don't remember what size of bit, but I do happen to have four square bits in my tool box and one of them did fit. Also strange was the screws are driven in at strange angles, but hopefully it's easier on your rig. Like Tom mentions the bottom of the curtains at the sides of the windows just slide off.
I don't know if it matters but you might want to find a way to mark which windows they came from just in case.

On my 2980 RL I had to take the cornice box off the window to remove the curtain rod, use a long square tip mine are 6" and it will allow you to get up inside the box to the screws Bi focal glasses realy make it hard to see them screw heads.

I kinda thought I may have to remove the cornice Don. DW has kinda resigned to not cleaning them as we leave for Boston next week for awhile. Bifocals are great, but you are right that they can be a pain when trying to do work like this.
