DIY Sauerkraut Class!

DIY ClassSAUERKRAUT
Saturday the 11th - 2:45 to 3:45

Sauerkraut is fermented cabbage that has several health benefits such as improving your digestion, boosting your immune system, and is very nutritious!

The process for preparing/fermenting your own homemade sauerkraut is simple, fun, and will save you money! In this class, you will learn how to prepare cabbage for fermentation in a mason jar. You will take home your very own jar of sauerkraut, that will ferment in your RV from 2 to 7 weeks.

Things you need to bring to class:

BIG clean bowl to hold a half head of shredded cabbage, cutting board and knife, a quart size WIDE MOUTH mason jar with lid (boil for 10 minutes to sanitize prior to class), large spoon, muddler/tamper to press sliced cabbage down in the mason jar (if you have one...I have a few that can be shared) and strong hands to massage the cabbage to release its water!

Supplied for you: the cabbage, salt, and filter to cover the jar. Cost for supplies $3 paid at packet pickup when you arrive.

Please respond if you are coming so supplies can be provided in the right quantities.

Class Update

We have our confirmed class time Saturday the 11th from 2:45-3:45 in the AG Building.

We do have a chance to arrive early after the group photo. Joanne and I encourage you to do so as we might need a few extra minutes to complete this yummy project.

Don't forget the class list to pack in your RV; you can even place your supplies in the AG building kitchen area ahead of the group photo if you would like.

At packet pickup, please see me at the craft table to pay $3 for the fresh cabbage and salt. I will have a separate table there to meet you. See you soon!

COVID 19 Update and Gut Bacteria

FLCCC-Protocols-–-A-Guide-to-the-Management-of-COVID-19.pdf

Listed in this update are the guidelines for battling COVID19 before and after a positive test. Yes, it lists fermented foods! Just an FYI in case you are interested.

PS: I can smell my sauerkraut doing its thing in the rig. Good gut bacteria coming soon

Kraut

Hello ladies n gentlemen!

Hope I’m posting on the correct site for the kraut class.

Just checking in to see how ur kraut turned out! Let me know!
Also my email is below if u have any questions!
Joannemaryjj@gmail.com

Ty to Terri for finding this fermenting device.....has metal spring shape coil n a top that releases the gases.
Found one in Shipshewana! Anyone using this...u still have to pound down the cabbage to get out all air initially...then use the coil n top!

Remember...start with clean hands n equipment (no soap residue) to avoid unwanted growth.

Looking forward to hearing from u on ur kraut..n future fermentation!

Happy fermenting!
Joanne

Don’t forget to go to “supper program” based out of nj.
Sign up using ur email n u will find great free virtual classes
N great healthy recipes!
