Kind of Rude

First night at Lazy Days we had the 30' sewer run that was all uphill. Went to the office the next morning and explained our issue and they switched us from our 40' site to a 42' site. Still a 30' run was not all uphill.

About 5pm got backed in, electric hooked up, just running front gear down when neighbor walks over to stand beside me at the front side of my Montana.

He has his phone up to his ear and says to me "hey, before you get too far I have a buddy coming into this site so you may not be able to stay".

I start to tell him that the office gave us the site at 10am that morning but he cuts me off and says that they have had 5 sites in a row and they reserved them 3 months ago. Since he is still on the phone I just go on about my business unhooking my fiver.

He starts with the "before you get too far" statement again and I am about to inform him that I am not leaving that site when the DW tells him that we were given the site for one night.

He puts the phone away (I assume he was trying to call the office) and curtly tells us that would be okay since his buddy wouldn't be in until the next afternoon anyway.

Now here we are in a CG that is 99% full. A full 24 hours before his buddy is coming in he is getting all excited about someone using that site! I can only hope that after he went back to his 42' diesel pusher he realized how rude and stupid the whole incident had been.

Some people feel that the world rotates around them. They seem to be missing the courtesy & civility genes.

Seems like occasionally you run into folks like that, unfortunately.

I don't think that's kind of rude, I consider that real rude.

If you have ever been to Lazy Days you may have recognized what I am about to state, or maybe not. I do not want to offend anyone who had a class A, who currently has one, or who is planning on getting one.

They sell a certain brand of Class A here that is a little on the expensive side. The brand begins with a "P". The owners of these rigs have their own "Club" and special parking areas. Generally speaking Lazy Days bows down to these folks every which way they can. The prime campsites in the actual Lazy Days CG are generally kept for these "special" folks, however when the CG is full they are spread all over.

I was never in a business where all my customers were in one place. I tried to treat all my customers the same, no matter if it was a $50,000 addition or building a simple $600 handicap ramp. I just think that because the management and employees of this facility treat these high end customers like royalty, it causes some of these Kings and Queens to look down on the rest of us.

It has just been my general perception when visiting this dealership and CG facility. Of course with this guys behavior yesterday it just added to that perception.

It's sad really, those "P" club people are really missing out on life. We all know 5er owners have the most fun!!!

But of course I have to admit we have met 5er owners that throw off the same vibe, but perhaps not as plentiful.

That's Rudy Dorkenstine he was parked next to me last week in Huntington Beach though I think he left the P rig at home. I think I met him a few months back and he had one of those toy hauler things at the time. He sure gets around but at least I only run into him every once in a while.

In 3 plus years of fulltiming from far south Texas to far north Alaska we have come into contact with very few rude people. Some walking through campsite s, some obnoxious people with obnoxious dogs and kids and a few who don' t have a clue about this lifestyle. We just figure it's their problem and not ours. Most can be handled with friendliness bot some are beyond help and best left alone. They can have their unhappy lives, I prefer to be happy.

I look at like the customers you had, some are nice, some not so nice, any group of customers, travelers, cops, repair people, so on.. will have a few wonderful folks and some really crummy ones. It just makes it hard to deal with them sometimes when you are going through something like you are now. I hope your wife is feeling better.
This to, shall pass...

I seem to remember that most of my rv travels in southwest and west were good evevts with nary a b-head...not so on the east and southeast...lots of different kinds of rv'rs...some not really all that pleasant and would fit into certain reality tv shows as extras. Sometimes I wish I could materialize the crew of the black pearl to take care of certain "campers"! John

You know I think it all kind of evens out. We experienced this idiots behavior up in Tampa, which was on one end of the unfriendly/rude meter, then we pull down to North Ft. Myers for a couple days and the first camper we actually talk to is the guy that hollered at me to "watch your cab" and saved me from some serious damage while backing in. He and I joked back and forth a couple times after I was set up since he is in the site right next to us. So this guy, who has a SOB fiver by the way, is on the extreme opposite end of the meter.
