Uses for small space alongside the BR nightstand

Brought to mind by a post re "hidden compartment"...what uses have you have for the small space between the nightstand(s) and the bed?

We use it for a wine rack. Took a divider from inside a wine case, cut it down to hold 8 bottles, and put it between the bed and the nightstand. We have it placed so the spaces for the wine are parallel with the floor...easy access and viewing.

If it is full, Nancy puts a pillow between the night stand and the bed, inboard of the "wine rack", for traveling. If there are only 2 or 4 bottles, next to the floor, she doesn't bother with the pillow. Never had a bottle come out in 12,000 miles of traveling.

If I were less lazy and more talented, I'm sure we could find a simple adjustable wine rack to use instead...but, for now, this works fine.

Any other ideas out there from the creative folks??

Best,

I use the under chair seat for my wine storage. I cut 2 square pieces of foam 1 for the bottles to sit on and the other to place on the top of the bottles. I also cut strips of foam to place between the bottles. I use two of the chairs and can carry 4 bottles of wine in each one. Be sure to glue and re-nail the bottom of the chair because the panel is only held on with short staples.

Dory and I found the perfect solution for a wine rack! It's called a 2007 3650RK with the built in wine rack in the kitchen island! . Kind of pricey just for wine, but I have a whole list of other advantages.

I stick my handgun in there. I also got my shotgun above the cabinets on the opposite side. Well hidden, but accessable.

I won't say what I store there...but if someone comes knocking on my door late one night they will fine out
