Refrigerator on or off
Is it good or bad to store the trailer hooked to power and leave the refer ON?

My thoughts on this, is that IF perchance the power would go off, you could end up with spoiled food, and believe me, if you have frozen meat that thaws and you don't find it fast, well, you just do NOT want to know how horrible that is. EWWWWWWWWWW does not describe!
Ya, I know, the frig is supposed to run on propane and the battery. How long will the battery run the frig before going kapoot??
But, for the frig to run for long periods of time, no issue, mechanically.
Just don't leave frozen meat, just in case!

Is mine the only one that builds up a lot of ice in the freezer if it is left on for extended periods???
I turn mine off when in extended storage.

Ours builds ice In the freezer, too. However, since we fulltime, ours has been on, more or less, since 12/13/2008, when we get ice buildup, I deal with it by turning it off for brief periods of time to let the freezer compartments thaw while preserving the refer foods by not opening the doors.
When we were part-timing, we would leave the refer on, while plugged in at the storage facility, with no food in the refer so we were ready to go when we wanted to.
Your mileage may vary...

Before we went full time we always left ours off even though the rig was plugged in until a day or two before we were ready to take the rig out.

We leave ours off. Numerous techs have told us that never shutting the unit off is better for the unit is a myth, that shutting it off when not in use saves wear and tear on the refrig and converter,ie longer life.

I can't speak to the mechanical pros and cons but I can't see the point of paying the utilities for something that isn't going to be used for an extended period of time. We have shut down the whole Monty during winter storage with no ill effects so far.

We leave ours on and plugged in during our rving months. In the winter we leave the fridge off with the doors propped open, but leave our Monty plugged in while in storage.

Our rig is plugged in full time but we leave the refrigerator off until a day or two before going on a trip then turn it on. When we travel we turn the frig
off as I don't like having the propane turned on while we are moving ( many owners do travel with the propane on and many don't, it's up to the individual owner). We found our frig and freezer will keep everything cold or frozen for at least 8-10 hours). When we stop for a period of time of for the night we turn it back on.

My vote: Off, reason is that the longer you use something, the quicker it will wear out.
SO, when not in use for a month or longer, Off.

I am with you Ozz 100% like leaving the unit pluged in when not in use I am sure will add to a longer life of the converter
