Has anyone purchased an RV lot in Florida?
Has anyone here, or has anyone heard of purchasing an RV lot in Florida? I've heard, but never seen any info on campgrounds where you could buy your lot, and rent it out half of the year when your traveling. This way you would have a definate winter site, but be free to travel north in the summer. To clarify...rent out the lot only and take the 5vr with you.

BillyRay,
I met someone recently that had purchased a lot in Fort Myers, FL a couple years back. Since land is very scarse there this has worked well as an investment. I don't know how widely this is done elsewhere but found this site for just for reference. http://www.cypresswoodsrv.com/

looks like a very nice place. I sent for some information. My main goal would be for an investment for the future...something I can use part time now and possibly rent out, but it depends on the rules.

There is an Escapees RV Park in FL that is under one of their systems where you can lease a lot for five years with extension. Very reasonable prices. Think you can get info on their web site, www.escapees.com

Billy,
We own our lot in Salt Springs, near Ocala Fl . There are a number of lots for sale in here . All have a concrete or asphalt pad. They are all newly rewired for 50 amp service, cable , sewer etc.
They are title condo type lots. We are on a large lake with full access, 2 pools etc . prices range from the mid 40's up to the 60's
If you would like more info please e mail me your phone number and I will be glad to give you a call. E Mail is wa4bmg@earthlink.net.
Cyress woods in Ft Myers is a very nice place but a bit pricey.

I think I may be in for some serious sticker shock! I'm in the very begining stages of looking, and most places haven't placed prices availible...have to talk to a sales person.

BillyRay,
Here's one to check out.
Wilderness RV Park Estates
I have 3 neighbors down here that are buying into this campground. According to them the price is right and the owners are really working with them.

wa4bmg....What is your idea of a bit pricey?????? I just about fell out of my chair when they told me!!!! $224,900 !!!!!!!! For an empty lot! Now I know it has a large shed, but come on. Your price is looking good! I knew I'd be way out of my elements here, but you don't know until you ask.Thank you again for your help.I will still look just because, but I don't think I'll be rushing south too quick to seal any deals.

BillyRay, I guess Ft Myers was a bad example :-) they had local ordinances that don't allow for the creation of new lots so the available ones are a bit of a goldmine.

First time I have talked back, usually I just read what you all have to say and consider myself wise by obtaining great information. We are in a Geezer Park ( 55 and older ) in central Fl. The township is Davinport. About 1 mile south on 27 from I-4. The park is "Citrus Ridge". Everyone owns there own lot and we elect officers to run the place. There are 450 lots with about 75% having park models on them. There are always lots forsale as no one lives forever. Because of supply & demand, the asking price for lots runs from $25K to $50K for empty lots and park models run as high as $85K. We If you go to www.crnafl.com and serf around you can find more details. We are from Rochester, NY and started wintering here last season. Any questions my email is jjfavret@yahoo.com

welcome and congrats on your first post. Thank you for the information. I will check it out, but I'm still under the age requirement so it probably wouldn't work.

Billy,
We are also in a "55 & older" Park located in Rockledge, about 40 miles South and East of Orlando. It is called "AMERI-CANA RESORTS CO-OP" and can be reached at AmericanaResorts@bellsouth.net. There is a mix of park models and lots for 5er's, motor homes, etc. Prices are running about $35K for the lots, but are difficult to find as they go quickly. But the neat thing is they can be rented out when not in use - a rare commodity these days, at least in Central FL. Hope this helps. If you want to discuss further, send me a PM or email me at jsrang@earthlink.net.
Jim
