3400RL Not level on road

My 2012 340RL with Moore Ride hitch is higher in the front by 5 inches for the rear, setting on level ground. I tried lowering the 5th wheel but the king pin box scratched up the top rail of the TV, deep gouges that I had to fill and repaint.

Problem is the rear axle now carries more weight than Keystone designed it for.

I thinks of cutting off the spring mounts at the frame and adding a 3 inch spacer, to achieve a higher trailer ride height. Make it more level,

Has anyone had this problem and if so what is your fix.

What truck do you have...We have the 2013 3402 Big Sky and we are level.

Unfortunately with many late model pickups a lot of fivers are nose high going down the road. Although 5" is a bit excessive ... I wouldn't even pursue the thought of spacers. It will raise the center of gravity (meaning less stable) and will make your traveling height even more worrisome that stock. If you can't keep about 6" bed rail clearance like you found out ... your truck and fiver make contact. Perhaps this is something you'll just learn to live with.

With my 07 3400rl I was 4 1/2 inches high in the front. I had it weighed and there was no extra weigh on the rear tires and never had any tire wear. It was high because I traded trucks. However I could not tell any difference in towing it with my old truck where it towed level.

Spacers to raise the rig may not be a bad way to go. We have not done so yet, but really want to get the Mor Ryde IS. I understand that they measure your rig height while connected to the TV, then when installing the IS, install spacers to the frame so the rig rides level when they are all done. As high as these rigs are, 5 or 6 inches back where the axles are won't make much difference. I would also suspect the rig may ride better when level.

Many owners that have the long Mor ryde pin box have had to nip the rear corner of the pin box to eliminate it making contact with the truck. I did mine and have not had any issues since.

I have a 2012 Ram 2500 4x4 with 17" wheels and a 275/75R tire. Came from the dealer that way.
But the trailer king pin box has always scraped on the bed rails when making a tight turn.
I've trimmed about 4"X 2" at the back/ bottom of the pin box that helped but if I slid the 5th wheel back the box still hits the tail gate.
Reading one reply warned about overall height and the 2012 3400RL is 13ft 3 in. setting level in my driveway unhooked. If I use the space idea I'd be 13'8" the 13'10" hooked up. No good...
Help??

My pin box would also hit the tailgate if I slid it back. On a bright note, in 8 years and three trucks and two 5vers I have used the slider one time when it was new. With the long pin box, I would have to turn way past 90 to possibly need it. Nipping the corners cured the bed rail problem.

Do you have a lift kit on the truck? My 2014 ford with 20" tires only makes my trailer sit 1 inch high from front to back and I have over 6 inches of rail clearance. I am thinking maybe lowering the truck would be a better option than raising the trailer.

You will be lifting the rear of the trailer, not the front where most rigs are the highest. We are 13' 4", and that is to the top of the front A/C, and lifting the rig at the axles would not change that dimension.

Could someone perhaps link to a picture of this "nipping the corner" of the pin box? I am interested, but can't quite get the picture in my mind.

My rig is about the same height from the entry door forward. The axles are just aft of the entry door. I can't picture how one would not raise the overall height by adding spacers on top of the axles. Another issue depending on amount of lift is the distance between the bottom entry step and the ground.

I just recently clipped mine. You actually aren't removing any metal from the pin box itself, but remove from the plates that are part of the trailer that the pin box is bolted to. The first photo is how I clipped mine, and the second photo is where I moved the serial number tag to. I used my 4" grinder with a thin metal cutting blade. Be sure to wear safety glasses or goggles when you do this. Just a little work with a file and some black paint finished it. I also moved the wires in the flex tube that goes to the emergency brake switch to the next hole forward, and also relocated the metal junction box up so it isn't in the way.
