Winegard TRAV'LER DISH 1000 Installation

One of the many upgrades we plan on making to our 2012 Montana 3750FL before we begin our fulltime adventure is installing a Winegard TRAV'LER DISH 1000. I've read the installation instructions and it appears you just have to screw it in the roof. Which brings me to a couple of questions.

1. What is the make up of the roof? Do I have to find cross members to anchor it to, or is there a sheet of plywood that I can screw it into?

b. I thought about using the same cable hole as the current TV antenna. How do I feed the cables between the roof and ceiling so I don't have a bunch of exposed wires?

I didn't install my own, but our installer used the front cabinet where we have our splendide to drill a hole and fish the wires thru.

Don't know what model you have, but depending on if your televisions are in slides or not, those installs are extremely difficult. If none of your TV's are in slides, or you are going to just try to run down into a splitter in the basement, then maybe you could get by. I have had two installed and my buddy had CW install his. One of mine took two techs over 6 hours (2008 3400RL), and this last one took one tech a little over 5 hours. But remember these are RV techs that do this all the time.

Doesn't have to be screwed into cross member, just make sure you have clearance around the unit. If you have the newer rounded roof, you will want to stay near center-line, so it is level.

We had CW in Las Vegas install ours a couple years ago. They placed the dish at about the center front to rear, ran the cables over the roof to the right front corner, where they entered the cabinet where the antenna booster is located. They anchored the cabling every couple of feet across the roof and sealed everything, dish base, all the cable anchor points, and the flange where the cables entered with Dicor type leveling sealant. The front cabinet is where the dish control box and the satellite box for the bedroom TV is located. They used the trailer's cabling to connect from there to the TV in the living room. Had to get DISH support to help get the system working when we established service, and their techs on the phone were great. The system has been flawless, and when we call to change our location for local service, we just ask for tech support, as the regular account people don't always understand us being in an RV.
