Mor/Ryde IS vs SRE4000

On the newer Montana's I believe they come with the OEM of the SRE4000 suspension with 4" of travel. I'm wondering if the IS upgrade is still worth the cost. Hoping someone can ask Mor/Ryde today to compare and contrast the two systems. Their brochure indicates that with the Xfactor the 4000 system adds to frame strength and reduces torque but does not address thoes benefits with the IS.

The IS system does not need the Xfactor as it has its own cross bars

As Charlie says, when you get IS they weld two square tubes across the frame. IMO making it stronger than the X factor.

I agree with both comments. The I (independent) S (suspension) has each tire reacting independent of the others with reference to bumps, rail road tracks etc. With the normal suspension the SRE 4000 links the front and rear tire and pushes or pulls the other. The two axle springs are connected to the SRE 4000. The IS does not. The IS is a much beefier assembly and does not have leaf springs.
I wanted Hydraulic Disk brakes and felt my leaf spring suspension could not withstand the 40% extra breaking TORQUE of the disk brakes so I went with the IS. I am very please with it and it just survived 6500 miles to Alaska and back where other units had to replace busted springs.

Heard MOR/ryde this morning, and the IS gives another inch or so travel (which is good!), but frame stiffness wasn't addressed. IMHO if you've really bad roads you travel on a lot, you need either IS or the x frame reinforcement.

Our new 2015 arrived with LRE 4100, what is the difference from SRE 4100, I can't find anything on their site.

X2 what John said. So far we've traveled over 13,000 miles since May, including 6,000 to Alaska and back, including the famous or is that infamous "Top of the World Highway". With the Mor/ryde IS and H rated tires we had no problems, while others had tire issues and other problem, and the lone Montana in our Caravan broke a shackle and almost pushed the spring through the floor.

From what I understood, the LRE and the SRE are similar, except the LRE is factory installed and the SRE is after market. Both do the same thing.

"H" rated tires? Tell us more: brand, rating, size and cost!

If I heard it correctly at the rally the IS suspension is now option on at least the Big Sky. Did anyone hear the entire comment??

Tom S, there are several people running H or J load rated tires/wheels on the forum. My Sumitomo tires are H rated, maximum load rated to 4805 pounds when inflated to 125 psi. They cost more and you have to change your wheels (rims) so they can handle the increased rating. Goodyear G114's are an example of the H rated tires. I had a set of five shipped via fed-x to me at a campground in maine when I ditched the Marathons after two blowouts getting there. I paid $3000 total from Trailer Tire and Supply in Northern Ohio. Rich, That is what I heard. The coach is built with the spec suspension. When it rolls off the line it is then towed to MorRyde to have the IS added. Jim

Tom,
My H tires are Good Year G114 "H" tires. They are on 17.5 inch rims. These rims are over twice the thickness of the 16" rims.
One thing I learned is the 9/16 vice the 5/8 studes do reduce the weight rate of the rims.
As a late note my IS and H tires also survived the Top of the World highway as well as therest of the frost heaves with no problems.

I too just got back from 14K miles to and around Alaska. Don't think I would have made it without the IS!
