Curtain Rods

Hey all, we're full-timers and I'm doing a bit of redecorating and refreshing of our 2010 unit.

The window valances were removed yesterday and the interior looks more light and modern already.

Next up . . . curtain rods and curtains, both being not excessively heavy. Rods are not massive heavy things and the curtains are not a heavy fabric.

Okay to screw in the rods to the walls? Can I use the screws that come with the rods (not excessively long or anything, just regular screws that come with curtain rods . . .)

I've seen oodles of full-timers do this but haven't tackled it before now . . . being sort of afraid I'll - don't laugh - "break" something in the Monty.

Don't want to put up a curtain rod and have the whole wall fall in . .

Did all sorts of stuff in my stix-n-brix (ripped up carpet, painted cement floors, painted interior, replaced toilet and faucets, hung blinds, etc.). Have just been timid about doing things to the rig.

Thanks!

Best thing is to anchor them to the aluminum studs with self tapping metal screws, in my experience. Remember this wall is going to move and bounce, not something you have to worry about with your S&B unless you live in California.

Thanks, Dick.

Was just thinking . . . could take them down prior to hitting the road. Should not really be a problem while we're stationary, eh? I can see how rocking down the highway might be an issue.

The existing valances, drapes, and even the Day/Night shades (heavy and under some tension) are all secured to the wall with screws. Many of us have had the screws holding the shades pull out of the wall. One of those plastic inserts driven into the wall restores the anchor and keep the screws from pulling out again.

There is no reason why you can't use screws to attach your new window trimmings.

We have installed curtain rods over the bedroom windows. Screws placed into the wall. They have been there for 5 years with no problems. The oem bolster (?), are just screwed into the wall and they are considerably heavier.

Just be sure screws won't go through to outside wall
