Painting front cap
Not sure where this should go, so I will try here (moderator, please move if appropriate). I have replaced the graphics on the front cap twice on my 2007 3400RL and they are peeling again. The rig is stored under cover with only the nose exposed to partial sunlight. We have it detailed at least twice a year. I plan on keeping it for a while, so I want to just get the old decals removed and have the front cap painted. Anyone done this? Any advice? TIA.

I think I have read where someone did remove the decals and painted the front cap. Perhaps they will come along and give you the answer to your question.
I do know of one owner that went completely naked. (The Monty)

I have not. Know several who have. They had the cap painted, no graphics, and a good application of clear coat. Problem with an older unit is eliminating the color distortion where the decals were removed because of weather, sun, and time. Buffing and compounding!

I did repaint the 2012 343RL front cap. Just strip the graphics(hard part)and then prep for a couple of coats of Pettit Marine Top Coat paint, this paint is designed for boat applications, and high UV protection. It can be sprayed or rolled and tipped, you will need a different reducer(thinner) for which ever application method you decide. The roll and tip will give you a very smooth coat, it will be hard to tell that it wasn't sprayed. I did it last year and it looked as good 2 weeks ago as the day I finished it. Traded the 12 in for a 2015. And you can choose the color, we went with Platinum for a lighter look. You can go to http://johnandjanicervadventures.blogspot.com/ and go to 2013 November 11, and look down the mods, picture in there.

Ours has some cracks in the decals, but no peeling. I was thinking about just taking them all off if they started, but after seeing what it'd look like (the great white whale?), don't know as that's an option. Nice to hear about Pettit Marine Top Coat. Even a two or three color job would be better than naked!

I am in Colorado--a Montana owner in the park replaced the front cap with a full color photo of a mountain lake. Looked really great--I should have taken a photo. JJ--I checked with graphic shops in San Antonio and they will make a photo or other art work into a vinyl that will fit your front cap. I don't know the cost for that-I explored doing my full rig about 12 months ago--never did anything. I did replace the front about 5 years ago--still looking good-stored outside. I guess I got lucky!
