That's all the economy needs is for the cost of delivering goods to go up.

Last time I didn't want the change, the next one I will. Sigh.... I just rolled 1200 miles on my new truck today and the Montana has only 3 trips under her axles. I'm in it for the long haul.

Looks like the govt. will add a 6.4 cent (per gallon) tax increase to diesel fuel, but eliminate the excise tax for heavy trucks. I don't see how this will benefit the small diesel truck owners.

What's really sad is no can see what the cost of the cheapest, dirtiest fuel is doing to our prices across the board as they cruch our truckers....Remember when diesel was more than half the cost of regular gas, now it is more than premium. SAD!

And good luck trying to find Bio-Diesel here in NJ....Petro companies won't allow it.

Rudolph Diesel must be shaken his head in the grave saying "but I designed it to run on peanut oil!"

Not sure if an extra $1. 90 on a $130. 00 fillup will make me change my plans. Especially if they use it to fix the roads and bridges.

While I don't like, it is not going to keep me home. My scheduled trip next month @3k miles would cost me about another $25 if this tax passes. I would not stay home over $25. Rving is still cheaper than Flying (tickets plus all the extra fees, hotels, rental cars & 3 meals a day in restaurants).

At first I couldn't understand why the ATA would be in favor of it, then the light bulb lit up. Increased fuel cost can be passed on, but higher cost for a new truck can't.

If they actually used the tax money collected for road repairs and improvements, I might be able to stomach a tax increase. This would add ~.6 cents a mile to my driving costs when I am towing the rig. With the fluctuations in fuel prices and if they timed it right, it might not be noticed.
