She really has been a nice sleigh this past year, and we have kept her out of the weather and well groomed for the past 2 months getting ready for the big holiday trip. The only naughty incident was not her fault as while she was recently in Maine her China parts let her down, and since then we have encourged her to associate with a better group of G614s. We knew she needed to travel in the right circles. While stabled to prepare for this season we have gussied her up with a new 4" sewer pipe storage bin at the rear and bolted on a new Trailair Triglide for her tongue and am hitching her up to a bigger bunch of horses for her next trip to Florida that starts on December 29th.

Going to take the Mobile Monte on the road and head for warmer weather if the weather holds for us to leave Nebraska after the first of the year! We'll be picking up some new LED bulbs from Michael while we down there also.

We got the Monty a couple of mounted-under-the-cabinet wine glass holders and a Midland weather radio which will remain in the rig at all times. Both items will come in handy when we move to Texas in June and take up residence at the Matagorda Bay Learning Center RV Park as volunteer camp hosts!

A Bose sound dock.

Now we can take all our CD's on an IPOD. Great device.

I'm with Rich....been considering a trade in for the new Big Sky or possible the Redwood. Although I won't do anything until I hear Rich's report on the new Montana's this spring.

We are very impressed with the redwood also. We saw it at the Tampa Rv shoew last year and will take a very close look this year.

We lean toward the 3402 Big Sky Montana for many reasons but Rich is a hard sell.

We understand that all these things are built using the same construction methods, same workforce makeup and most of the same vendors. We been to all the plants we see how they are built. This 06 3400 has been used hard and we know how well it has held up. We can not be fooled.

We understand what makes the difference and that difference is quality of construction. Deep down it is my opinion that the redwood will be no better built than the Montana. That is the hard sell. IF the redwood is IMO and experience a better unit we will have it. If it is no better and that is my feeling right now we will have the big sky.
And.. we know what to look for
We will tour the redwood factory this spring.

Rich what differences do you see in these campers in how they are built at the factory?

we see no difference in how any of them are built. same workforce make up. Same construction methods the assembly lines look about the same. Same vendors.
here is a example of what I look for....the Redwood 38Br is very compairable with the 3402 big sky. The redwood weighs 14,720 shipping weight with a GVW of 17,178. The 3402 has a shipping weight of 12,930 with a GVW of 15,805. That is a 2020 lb difference in shipping weigh and a difference of 1370lbs GVW.

Where is the difference in weight. Don't care about all wood cabinet/doors, thicker carpets, etc that stuff has held up well in this 06 3400

Is the weight in a bigger better constructed frame, better suspension, heavier axles, better holding tanks. The things that count when using these things hard and the things that most commonly fail. We know where the major issues are in these Montana's and so do most of us here in the MOC. We will try to avoid that if at all possible.

we still look for the best bang for the buck and the Montana will be hard to beat in that area. If we determine we will get no bettter in the redwood or any other brand we will stay with Montana. Just as the first purchase Montana has got to convince me the product is the best for our use and within our budget. We put over 2500.00 in the Mor ryde Is syetem to replace a suspension system in the 06 3400 that was totally inadequate for our needs. That will not happen again..We learn fast.
