Black Tank Flush Water Connection Diameter

I am planing on putting a back flow preventer on the on the black water tank flush port. I have a 3400RL Montana. Unit is in storage but I am gathering items I need now to be ready for spring. Does anyone know the diameter of the flush port and do I need a male or female connection. There are several different sizes available on line and I want to order the correct size and couplers (Male/female). Should I order a 1/2",3/4" or 1" unit?

Thanks,

Neverhome

If you are talking about the hookup on the outside of the unit it is a standard hose bib. Your check valve will need a male end to go into the hose bib and a female end to accept your hose. The tubing out of the hose bib to the flusher is 1/2". Hope I correctly understand your question.

If I understand you correctly you need one of these, it's what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Homewerks-VAC-...flow+preventer

Did you already remove the one already installed at the factory?

I have not removed anything. I just plan on screwing a back flow preventer directly into the black tank flusher and connect the other end to a hose. Jimcol has indicated a 1/2" fitting and from the link DQDick sent, it looks like a 3/4" connection. After thinking it through, I do agree I need a male fitting on one end and a female on the other. Only question is 1/2" or 3/4". Aren't the fittings on the RVs pretty standard from one to another? Any tie breakers out there?

I do appreciate all of your input. Thanks to all.

It's a standard garden hose connection. Male or female, if it fits a common garden hose, you are good.

No I didn't say you need a 1/2" fitting. I said the tubing from the back of the hose bib to the flusher is 1/2".Focus on standard hose bib.

Neverhome ... look at DQDick's link ... it's a buy it and use it deal ... no assembly. It's just a garden hose adaptor that screws right on to the port of the black tank flush, then the garden hose screws on to that. Garden hose fittings are garden hose fittings no matter what size the hose is.

The confusion is all due to what/where you are talking about. Directly on the flush port can mean that you are planning on dropping the bottom and installing at the tank. Replacing that setup can only be accertained after you drop the bottom. If you really mean 'replace the vacuum breaker', which is already in the line underneath the bathroom sink or behind the shower or elsewhere...find it first then take it out and see what you need. You can't count on having the same setup even if someone had the same model as you. John
