Mor/Ryde Pin Box Rubber Number?

Hello All,

I have a 2014 3150RL. MorRyde pin box. Towing with a 2012 Ram 3500 DRW. B&W hitch. Has the wrap around jaws. I am getting what I feel as chucking.

I have looked in the dust on the bottom part of the hitch and have about 1 1/4"-1 1/2" movement fore and aft. The rubber block is a #4.

Is it possible I need a #5 block? The #4 should be the one I need per the weight chart of the trailer. It is at the top limit of the weight for a #4,

I was wondering if the rubber block is too soft and the movable part of the pin box is hitting the stop blocks. I have measured and it does not look like that is the case. I could be wrong. It may be what it is.

I may be spoiled coming from a diesel pusher towing a 3,300lb Honda which you never knew was there.

Jim

I've the same fiver, just a bit older. My dust pattern is about the same. The MorRyde pinbox is supposed to get rid of most of the chucking, but not all. I'm curious as to what you end up with as I have a small bit of chucking from time to time as well, but figured that was about normal. I do know it's better than my other fiver with just a plain pinbox.

That's about the amount of travel Morryde wants in the pinbox

Hi, Do you know what number your rubber block is? You have to take it apart to see the number. A 15 minute deal.

Thanks Jim

On my 3400RL the chart said I need the #5. However the chucking was still bad so I changed it out to a #4 and now everything works great.

Thanks diesel guy. Looks like a #4 is the preferred one. On a Ram forum the hot thing to help is to add air bags and maybe then Blisteins.

But $300 here and $300 there, seems there is no end to it. I still need to buy a fuel tank so the extra $ is going there first.

Thanks for the replies. Jim

There's lotsa good tips on forums and there lotsa not so good tips. Trying out most everyones gadget becomes expensive (I have the T shirt) ... it reminds me alot of computers. No matter what high powered bell and whistle setup you have ... wait a week or so and you'll find someone with a louder bell or a better whistle. You just have to pick and choose to your real needs.
