Water heater

We have our water heater on the electric switch. Seems to work the the DSI light comes on. This switch is on the control panel in the hallway in the 5th wheel. When this light is on the water is not hot just warm. When the light is off the water is really hot and works fine. We can turn off the switch in the control panel and back on and the water will get hot. Am I not doing something right.

Depending on the year of your unit, the older ones at least, have a 2nd switch outside the heater. Kind of hidden. That turns on the electric. Also, I think the little light inside flashes or something when the gas is trying to light and then turns off when it is lit. some things to think about anyway.

You are correct, that is the issue, the outside switch, been there done that.

It’s a 2015 Montana High Country. Where would the outside switch be? It works sometimes really good and hot, seems like when that light comes on when it’s not hot.

The DSI light should only stay on if the propane side tries to light but fails. Almost sound like the propane is working part of the time and providing hot water.

In the files section which is in the second brown bar from the top next to User CP there is a water heater troubleshooting guide that may help you.
