Has anyone had any experience with powering your Montana with solar?

Dennis,

There are several of us. I have panels that stick right on the roof and you can walk on them. That said, they company went chapter 13, so you can't get them any more. I installed these in March 2010.

I have a solar system that keeps my four 6-volt batteries fully charged every day. We don't run the AC off of solar, but do run all the 12-volt lights and doodads as well as the three TV's, HD satellite antenna, and the DirecTV DVR. We've never run out of power!

Solar works great for us as long as we don't need AC. During the early mornings and evenings when running a generator is frowned upon, we're watching TV or computing without bothering our neighbors.

The only way to go if you do a lot of dry camping (boondocking). We charge our batteries from solar only.

We have 600 watts of panels installed and have never run our batteries down, except when we had to park in the shade. We run computers, TV, coffee maker, and microwave, plus normal 12 volt items. I believe that it is one of the things full-timers should seriously consider.

We have solar and love it. It runs everything in the unit except the AC unit.

I will be installing this weekend and cannot wait.....been a year in planning. We had it on our SOB and it was a blessing when staying in Yellowstone and other National and state parks where hook ups are not available.

Will post our set up when complete.
