Well it is almost exactly one month before we take off for our first official retirement trip. Mary Kay has only 11 more day of teaching.
We are starting our "fine-tuning" process. For the most part we either have stuff on board the 5er or we will put them in as we leave. Still a couple of major things to do to the tow truck.... we have to spray in the bed-liner and add the tool boxes. That will be done in the next week.
Yesterday I added an inverter for our entertainment system. We can now watch satellite TV when we're boondocking! We won't be doing a lot of that but it will be nice to have to check up on the weather forecasts.
Our basic plan is to leave Bakersfield about the 16th of June and head to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (we do have reservations). From there over into the Monument Valley area. Next on over to the 4 Corners area. Then we start south. We'll work our way down thru the Navajo and Hopi Nations and visit the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest areas. Then into the Showlow/Payson areas north of Phoenix. That should take us until about the first week of July. We'll hang out up in the cool country until we get the call from our daughter telling us to come on down to Phoenix to be with our first grandchild. The baby is due about the end of July. We are really excited about our trip as well as our first grandchild!
