Recall - 2021-2023 Montana + 2021-2022 Montana High Country
Keystone is in the process of issuing NHTSA Recall 24V-234 for the Suburban Stove Light system
There are other Keystone products equipped with the same stove that have been recalled as well.
"There are two remedies for this issue. The LED backlights can be removed
from the range or the circuit powering the LED backlights can be cut and
properly terminated. Manufacturer Reimbursement Plan on file as of
10/11/2022. General reimbursement plan to be updated every two years.
New vehicles are covered under warranty."
Hopefully this is the short term solution and Keystone will come up with a plan to replace the bad circuit board.
The full recall information is attached.

Thanks for the heads up. Although we have had no issue we seldom use the lights. So I will eliminate the power to them.

I received the recall notice. Apparently there are LED lights built into the knobs. The lack of protective coating on the LED connection allows for moisture to cause a short. Ok, I can buy that, but there is some odd discrepancy's in the recall. This is a very simple 12 volt circuit.
12 volts to a SPDT toggle switch. Position 1 lights the knob LED'S. Position 2 lights the Knob LED'S and the oven LED. Below is from the recall.
It has been decided that the vehicles in the recall population with the Suburban stove LED backlight printed circuit boards (PCB) are not fully coated. The lack of adequate coating in the connection passages between the layers of the PCB can allow liquid from the cooktop surface to accumulate which could result in a short circuit resulting in failure of the PCB. If the PCB fails, it can become overheated and the polyethylene cover of the lights can melt and possibly ignite causing a fire (wouldn't this cause the 15 AMP fuse to blow?)
The LED backlights of the cooktop knobs can remain on even when they are in the off position. The LED backlights can come on and stay illuminated at random. (really struggling with this one. This is impossible since there is on off toggle switch)
I can live without the knob lights but I need the oven light. The recall fix is to kill the entire circuit. I opened the cooktop, found the toggle switch and lights. It seams to me that the fix would be to simply disconnect the knob LED'S and leave the oven LED operational, which is exactly what I'm going to do. Also, the inside of the stove below the grill and pan was spotless. It looked brand new! How much liquid would you have to spill into your stove?

Hi, I just got my "recall repair kit" and am pretty confident I can make the suggested repair. The first step though is to disconnect the 12V DC to the stove. I tried all the switches I can find. Any suggestions? Short of shutting down the whole RV! Its a 2022 keystone Montana 3781RL. I agree, I am leaving the oven light switch alone.

Follow the 12 volt wires going into the wall behind the stove. disconnect there. I'm sure there's a fuse but I don't know where it is.

Thanks! I actually did find the fuse (trial and error, go through half the panel), the completed the work! Hardest part was finding the 15 amp fuse!

Ross,
Did you obtain the kit from Keystone or from Suburban?
