Goodrich LT235/85-R16 E
Hello folks. I have a 30’ Montana 5th wheel. It’s time to buy tires. Since we are Costco fans and like to watch our budget too...we found this set of 10 ply E rated tires for a real good price. They are the same size that have been on our Monty for years. However they are about $500.00 cheaper than the last set! So does anybody have experience with the Goodrich tires? Do you have 6,000 lb or 7,000 lb axles on the rig? What model and year and what exactly does the tag on the left front side of the trailer say what tires are supposed to be on it? The problem with those tires is, at the most, they are only rated to carry 3,042 lbs per tire, so even on a 6,000 axle, you have no extra margin. With the weight you are hauling, even with a 30’ trailer, this is not the place to go cheap on.

Goodride are the new Marabombs. They were OEM on our brand SOB for a short time with very poor results and were fairly quickly removed.
People see Good and just think Goodyear, without reading the whole name.

Put Sailuns on it......or you could ruin a vacation. I recently bought a new Sailun on Amazon and it was around $160.00. Walmart has them for $156.32. Pretty affordable.

Go with the Sailuns. They give less trouble than any tire in their price range.

I have to correct my answer: Are we talking BF Goodrich Tires or GoodRIDE tires????
If GoodRIDE, my answer stands, if BF Goodrich LT Tires it well depend on the weight of your axles

I would think a 30 ft rig would weigh around 12,000 lb. My 37.5 rig is around 14,500. So if around 12 or 13K gvwr and 2K on the hitch, you are well under the 6K axles.

Go with Sailuns. $600 for a set and good insurance.

Not enough info in your post. What model Montana? What size tires came on it? What does it weigh? Sailuns may indeed be overkill.

Regardless of weight, I think quality is what every person wants and Sailuns seem to be just that.

Keystone used LT235/85R16 LRE tires on RV trailers with 6000# certified axles as late as 2006. After that almost all were ST designed. However, optional and OE tires sized LT235/85R16 LRG were quite standard on 7000# axles.
Your vehicle certification label – if still legible - will display the proper size.
To stay within the LT designated size and upgrade load capacity, the LT235/85R16 LRG (RST) is the only option.
Sorry, I don't recommend brands, it's to controversial.

I run those on my ‘06 2955RL, which runs just under 11,000 pounds loaded. I check the tire pressure religiously, and change them out every 5 years. No problems, and I’m on my fourth set now. BF Goodrich Commercial T/A.

I would have to have an ST rated tire and not an LT... regardless of brand.. and it would be 14 ply G rated if 7K lb axles..

I had a BFG Commercial T/A 235/85R16 blow out at 3 yrs old, less than 4,000 miles cause $1000 damage on my 2880 Montana. It had 80 lbs air pressure cruising at 65 mph when it blew. I switched to Discount Tire's Hartland tires on that axle and later to Sailuns on the other axle replacing some 7 yr old Michelin XPS Ribs.
