Montana Tire Balancing

OK what is the real deal? On other threads there has been an extensive discussion over whether or no to balance the tires on the fiver. We are getting ready to depart on a 3-4 month trip and would like to know some facts. My tires came without being balanced and the dealer said that they are never balanced at the factory so this must not be needed. My local tire shop said that he has never balanced tires on an RV in 20 years. I got an email from a owner in MS and he said that an unknown "factory rep" told him that to extend the life of the tires they should be balanced. OK please help me out. Balance or not?
