Montana 3561 Leveler Panel - Manual Mode - Tire Changing

I am a new owner of this unit and am looking for a resource that explains the control panel. Wanting to change the tires and was planning on using the levelers to lift one side at a time to remove the tires. Looking for guidance here if anyone has any. Thank you!

I am unaware of a manual dedicated to the Level Up panel but in the Files section here on the MOC forum is a manual for the after-market installation of a Level Up system. *Clicky* Page 12 has a decent explanation of the panel functions.

Lippert will tell you not to lift the RV by the hydraulic jacks. This is a change from when the system was first advertised. Many attribute the statement to the Lippert lawyers and ignore it (me included). The jacks are more than adequate to handle the weight of the RV (front legs rated at 12,000 lbs. each, rear legs rated at 8,000 lbs each - you do the math ).

To raise and lower the RV go to "Manual Mode". You then use the appropriate button (Left or Right) to raise one side or the other. The is a "Tilt" prevention detector in the system to avoid you raising one side too high compared to the other side. You have to step the RV up a little at a time on each side. It doesn't require a lot of lift to get the tires to just clear.

Lowering the RV simply requires hitting the "Retract" button and then Left/Right until the RV is back on the ground. I usually do an Auto Level process afterward to get everything leveled out as normal.

There is this manual that might be worth a look. https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd-0001531.pdf

Good find Bob! I added it to the Files Section as "LCI - Level-Up Users Manual".

I always use the level-up system to raise all four tires when working on tires, rims and/or bearings and brakes. I use the manual front and rear raise button instead of left and right. Just personal preference.

Because of the "tilt" prevention Carl spoke of, I usually put a block or two under the jacks on the side that I need to lift. That way, is has less stroke to lift. I have the Snap Pads on all 6 jacks and needed to raise the rear jacks one bolt hole each.

Safety

I would also add safety/jack stands under the frame after lifting. I'm not sure what would happen if you had a hydraulic failure. In the automotive industry auto lifts have mechanical systems built in in the event of a hydraulic failure. Also on the floor it is recommended to use a safety/jack stand after jacking with a floor jack.

Mine has electric Lippert Jacks, not hydraulic. I've attempted to lift the camper by the backs and they do not have enough power or torque to do so. They level great, but they do not lift the tires off the ground. I had new tires installed once and I really didn't like the pain I went through to figure out how to safely lift the trailer and absolutely would not let the tire place do it hap-hazardly. They finally put hydraulic floor jacks in the right place on the frame, after stacking a mountain of lumber under the jacks so it would actually raise the camper high enough.

A couple years later I skidded a tire and tore the side wall. I needed a slick way for a different tire company to easily change the tire. I wasn't leaving it up to them to figure it out again. It took a couple days of trial and error, and cutting and fitting, but I finally ended up with this (below). Granted I can only lift one tire at a time, but at least it's very, very safe and will not hurt the camper, the frame, or the tires.
