Help me Weigh

Hi folks I have a 2021 Montana 3791rd and tow vehicle is a 2021 F450 dually Limited edi. Below I will try to add pics of Rv and vehicle information to ask help in telling me where I’m at weight wise as I just went to a cat scale. Any help deeply appreciated.

To get all the answers you need to make a return trip and weigh the Truck without the Monty. Once you have that you subtract that from the combined front and rear axles of the truck with the Monty attached gives you your Pin Weight. You can then add that Pin Weight number with the trailer axle weight to give the Monty's gross weight.

Agree know the pin would would be nice. GVWR on truck is 14,000, front axle + rear axle are under, GOOD as long as you had full fuel, people, pets and additional stuff in the bed. 5er is GVWR is over "as weighted" number.

Truck
-------
13,260 with the Montana
9,800 without
--------------------
= 3,460 Pin weight of the Montana
Plus 13,680 Montana weight on the axles

= 17,140 Total Montana weight

The truck is in good shape weight-wise but it is time to remove some of those gold bars you are carrying in the Montana

That's an interesting thought, adding Pin to Trailer axle weight. In driving commercially, the weight on the pin was truck weight not trailer weight ... is the rule different pulling a fifth wheel?

hmm, I read it differently. To me, this is not about a "rule" on where to measure the weight, but more just simple math... as noted, if we know the empty weight of the truck, then every pound added must come from the trailer; ie in this case the added "pin weight". So, to arrive at the total trailer weight, the weight that transfers to the truck must be added to the weight on the trailer axles.

Maybe the difference is that when commercial hauling tractor / trailer units, the GVW is the combined total vehicle weight, and not GVW of tractor separate from trailer. Of course, GAWR is measured and very important, which is what makes sure there is proper weight distribution.

In the case of pickup and RV trailer (ball or 5th wheel), the manufacturers are completely separate and each list their own GVWR that must be abided by; separately. Thus the math that Carl shared makes sense, to me.

At least, that's how I read it.

Brad

Not over weight on the truck but 500+ over on the trailer.

The 450 is heavier than the 350 and that Limited stuff is also heavy ~~ 4678 payload. My 350 Lariat dually is at 5698.
