Installed second battery
I installed a second battery (12v) recently and went smoothly as there in plenty of room in the front cargo area on my 3440RL. just another battery box mounted next to existing large battery box and Heavy Duty jumpers tie to post on that big box. I am still able to get my electric smoker into that same cargo area with just a tad bit more effort, but no biggie. Since we boondock quite abit, this will be useful to us.

Yes John the second battery will make you wish you would have done it sooner. After boondocking a few times and having to plug the cord back into my truck to get enough juice to start the generator I decided on going the two six volt batteries route. Two big Trojans six volts have made me a happy camper. I am sure you will be happy also.

I agree. These rigs should come with more than one battery.

The dealers install the batteries, and only put in what they can get away with, unless you, the customer specifies you want a different option. Knowing what I do now, any future rig will have an upgraded battery installation done by the dealer before delivery.

When I bought my rig new the dealer was nice enough to install two 12v batteries which was nice for about six years. Both batteries failed over time and since we never boondock and always use shore power, I now use only a single 12v battery and use the extra room for other things (tools and gadgets).
When this 12v battery finally goes out, I am waffling on going the dual 6 volt battery route (equivalent to a single 12v battery but slower discharging and longer lasting). I do realize they are larger and heavier than 12 volt configurations but I'm okay with that.

Their are other choices in-between going from the standard normally Dealer Installed Marine/RV Group 24 and that is upgrading to Marine R/V Group 27 or A Group 31. and then moving to A Trojan T 1275 12 V Golf Cart. As you move up size weight , AMP Hours and Price increases just something to consider. I installed A Deka Group 31 this Summer

I've been doing 2 batteries for decades, if a person was ordering a new RV they should order it then, and save some time for themselves in the future. I have been running twin OPTIMA's # 31, no fuss no muss no hydrogen gases in the battery compartment either. But that my preference of battery type others have theirs.
