Greetings, my wife went out to the Monty today to get a bottle of shampoo out of the bathroom. She found a dead mouse floating in the anti-freeze solution in the toilet. Had no sign of any mice in the camper before and no droppings anywhere. Anyone here have had a mouse problem before? Any favorite mouse places where they might be getting in? ANY help here will be appreciated.

there has been many post on mice here. you can try and plug anything you can think of and you still might have mice. you can use traps if you can have access to them all winter,some use downy dryer sheets,moth balls, fresh cab a type of organic,natural stuff. and on and on. you will get many ideas.

They're going to come up the landing gear and rear stabilizers and anyplace else they can find including chewing a hole if need be. When we used to store the Monty in the winter we got two poison bait dispensers, one for each side and put them between the tires. We got the dispensers from Tractor Supply, but any farm store will have what you need and then from then on you just replace the bait as needed. We found several dead mice in the yard around the rig, but never a live or dead mouse in the rig.

The little critters are tough to keep out, but that toilet bowl of antifreeze makes a dandy mouse trap. I pulled out a total of 8 last winter. Hopefully a little more snow here will help keep them down this year. Dick's right - plug as much as you can and they will still find a way in!

We had problems last year and found droppings in the storange compartment under the bed. At first I thought it was mice but then found a lot of chewed up nuts and broken shells so I came to the conclusion it was chipmonks. During the summer I have put in 7 high pitched electronic noise makers through out the camper and it seems to be working but winter hasn't arrived yet. It's unbelieveable how many chipmonks we have around our house. We now stow all sheets blankets etc, in
sealed plastic storage bags that we keep in the unit all year long. I also tried sealing as many areas as possible under the unit and will most likely try the moth ball trick too. It's amazing how many places these little creatures can get into (under the bed,in the living room couch pull out drawer, kitchen drawers just to name a few. Good Luck and if you come up with something that really works well please let all of us know about it.

x2 what DQDick does. We did have an issue one winter of a bird got in. Perched on the shower for a long extended time. Bird dropping every where. Never found him so he must have eventually got out thank goodness. It was a mess to clean up!

Sorry, I have an issue using the toilet as a mousetrap! I don't think I'd ever be able to relax in the "library" if I ever saw a mouse in there!

we have used all the above & they still get in. I think they like to play with the little pellets. We started using the sticky traps, get em everytime. No smell. So sticky got one by the tail.

There is only 4 places they can get in a camper, the landing gear and the wheels. Put 8 inch flashing around these 4 places and you got them.

As I have stated before, there are LARGE holes in the frame where the hydraulic cylinders come through to push or pull the slide-outs in or out. Large critters can easily get in there. Once they are in they can crawl up the flexible silver hose from the furnace that goes down into the under belly. Once in the furnace they have access to anywhere in the trailer. I cut the silver hose and spliced a piece of PVC pipe in with some metal screen glued in inside.
