Hi

Richfaa's bus should have had the electric backup pump but the light duty trucks we use for 5th wheel RVs dont. How ever there is a HydroBoost unit available with the pump and additional switches to install it.My Dodge has an electric backup pump on it as part of the hydroboost unit. Yes school buses do have them, both gas and diesel powered units if no air brakes. I currently drive them. I wonder why Chevy's don't have them if that is the case?

Not required by DOT!

The Dodge is not standard equipment.

My mistake. I made an assumption about the canister on the side of the unit. Never really checked it out. I just now checked it out. Learned something today.

Thanks for the warning! I just might have my idler and belt replaced as a precaution. 87,000 miles so far without a problem and i'd like to keep the good luck going- especially downhill with the Monty attached.
I had a slight whine, but thought it was comming from elsewhere. It started about 50 miles before the failure.

I have a question. Are you saying the electric motor backup pump had no effect on your braking power? Just wondering.
What electric motor? If I have one, it didn't work.

Tom S. As I said my bad. What I thought was a motor is labeled Presurized Gas Compannie. Not sure what it does. I learn the hard way sometimes.

Don't get me wrong - I think it would be a great idea. Especially after my experience!
