Another problem with our new 324RLQ

The day before we left furnace was working, got to our first stop yesterday and it would light for a few secounds then go out. Got to the CG today still would not work, had the green indicator on regulator and have been using gas for frig and water heater. Unhooked both tanks and hooked back up and regulator went to red and could not get the green again or gas to anything. Then after unhooking and rehooking several several times I got the green indicator, came in lit all burners on stove, turned furnace on and indicator went to red,(burners on stove still lit????) Turned off all burners and indicator went back to green and for now furnace is working. What could be going on here???

Lets see bought new less than 3 months ago and so far two recalls.
One for hubs could fall off axles, then a few weeks ago for the oven could catch fire or explode. Then first day headed to Florida slides would not go out and furnace would not light and it got down to 30 degrees overnight!!!!!!!!!!

Are you following the guidance on starting gas flow: "Connect the gas tank and then turn on gas slowly until you hear the gas start to flow, and then turn off for about a minute. Then slowly turn valve back on." Do this with both tanks. Hope you get the heat working soon.

Will try your way when I get to warmer area because its not the same as my owners manual says that did not work.

1. Verify both bottles are full
2. Close both bottles
3. Attach propane pigtails
4. Close manually operated gas valves on range or water heater
5. Turn indicator on the regulator to the bottle closest to it.
6. Slowly open the service valve on the bottle closest to the regulator. This is typically the bottle on the entry door side. Open the valve all the way.

On mine the entry side bottle has a small red looks like a regulator?
and bottle on other side has the regulator with the switch over valve and red or green indicator?

7. Slowly open the service valve on the bottle that is furthest from the regulator until you can hear gas start to flow through. Do not open the valve all the way. Wait 1 minute. (which one is the regulator and never did hear gas flow)
8. Re-close the service valve and then slowly re-open it all the way.
The systemis now ready to operate.

Seems like a lot to do every time you refill bottles plus it did not work for me unless Im doing it wrong??

we recently had the same problem. Our furnace would only light for a few seconds and than go out. I switched over to the opposite tank and it ran fine, any way we took it in and the small hose on the switchover side was bad.

John, Sorry for all the problems you are having. They can sure ruin a trip. I know regulators and hoses go bad and require extra steps of trouble shooting. I have read all the post about procedures to turn on newly filled tanks. The only procedure I follow is open the valve on the tank slowly. Don't want to jinx myself but after 26k miles with the RV I have never had a bottle changing problem. I think sometimes written procedures make things seem more complicated then they are. Jim

Sounds more like a "pressure" problem since it sounds like it's working for either the stove/refrig. individually but not in conjunction with the funace.

An RV tech can check the pressure fairly quickly and if I'm thinking correctly, it should be at least 11" (water column pressure) with at least 2 appliances on.

The furnace is especially sensitive to the pressure supplied and will not work if below it's specifications. The furnace will cycle on and may even ignite for a few seconds, It will do this 3 times and then shut down because it senses a problem.

Recently, while camping with friends, his furnace wouldn't light. Absolutely no flow through the black knob that screws onto the bottle, he went to a gas company as all the camper stores were closed, and the guy told him that that thing has a check valve in it that goes bad quite often and he made two new lines with the old style fittings on the end that screws into the tank...works like a charm now. This might not be an option where you are, but the gas man said he saw a lot of problems with that check valve and he just started replacing them with the old style fitting.

We have a similar problem with propane flow. Bought our 2010 3150RL in March. Both tanks were full and we didn't have any problem for a few months and then all of a sudden we didn't have gas flow, but then we started getting gas flow from the tank on the entry side. We went to the CW Keystone dealer in Vegas and the service guy said the Chinese regulators that are in the trailers are junk and he has seen a lot of people having regulator problems. They didn't have any regulators in stock and said they would have to order a regulator, but it will take a week. The service guy told me to try and find a regulator with the switching lever made by Mitchell Brass because they are the best regulator. I found a Mitchell Brass regulator at Findley RV ($45) in Vegas, but have not installed it yet, because our monty is in storage in Vegas. We are picking up our monty in mid December and heading to LA, so I'm curious to see if we will have gas flow; if not I'll install the Mitchell Brass.

The CW service guy told me the majority of the time the propane flow issues are because of a bad regulator.
