Dave I think now it's Big Sky time need to put some weight on the new Super Duty.... Fuel mileage sounds good for the Super Duty's. What is your rear gear, 4.30. GBY....

Lindy,
I went with the 3:73 to help offset the lower fuel economy of the Powerstroke. I was in the market this spring for a new coach, but a new truck became more urgent. The new coach will have to wait until 2011. The photos of your new coach are amazing...enjoy!

We're running 3.73s with limited slip on a 09 King Ranch Dually and have had no concerns or problems, actually a very good ratio for pulling as it will keep your rpms under 2000 which places you in a good all around torque curve plus economy. The higher ratio diffs are getting poor fuel mileage mainly because of the high rpms at 60 to 70 mph. They are a beautiful truck with excellent sight lines, and great comfort. We have about 5700 miles on ours at this point with absolutely no warranty issues or concerns. Very nice to drive and handle empty or pulling.

Just want to clarify that Dave's F350 is a 4x4. In 2005 Ford started putting that new very strong frontend under the 4x4's, the one that uses the A arms from (either F450 or F550, can't remember which), as well as the stronger frame. That 4x4 frontend provides a much shorter turning radius (5 feet, if I recall) than the 4x2's with the older twin I-beam frontend. My 2005 had that frontend and it turned much sharper than my 2003. Just wanted to clarify that issue.

Dave, congratulations on the great and beautiful new truck! I really like that color combination and the King Ranch goodies. I'm glad to hear you got the 3.73 axle as I really don't think a numerically lower ratio would be a good match for your 3400RL. If the 6.4 is like my current and past diesels you'll see the mileage improve slowly until it reaches peak somewhere in the range of 30,000 miles. Good luck. I hope it's a good one for you.

Thanks Steve. I am very happy with the new truck thus far. Hoping this one will roll well past the 200,000 mile mark.
