There are lots of threads on this subject, you might want to try the "search" feature. As for rear towing...some do it and some say Lippert will void the warranty if you put a hitch on their frame.

There are two things you have to be concerned about in addition to the frame issue. You need to find out which states you plan to travel through that allow towing double and also be cocerned about maximum length. Not all states allow double towing. Some are using the swivel wheeled trailers that attach to the rear of the 5er. I would love to bring our "Wing" with us but don't want to take the risk.

We have looked and looked at the trailers to pull behind. The swivel wheel is the less expensive but the best on the market is the Idaho Tote. It does not use one swivel wheel but 2 wheels that the whole wheel assemby turns. Very pricey but looks the best out there. We have not purschased because we live in a state that does not allow double towing. Decided at the moment not worth the risk but every so often we do get that itch to go for it.

I built and install a hitch and haul an 8' trailer with a bike or three. I was told I would void my warrenty. That being said could leave the toys at home.
