How do you vote on the road?

This isn't a post to ask who you are voting on, but rather how you vote? We are here in Bacliff/Kemah Texas area, and will going home to vote and winterize the house and pool. We are choosing that weekend to go home because we feel this is an important election to vote in.

For those of you that are traveling full time, and those that are running from the cold, how do you vote a couple of weeks from now?

I have tried to teach my children of making your vote count or just hush when you want to complain. Thank goodness we live in a country that we have the privilege of a free voting system.

Here is hoping that everyone that reads this exercises their right to pick our next leaders from the county, state, congressional and executive branch.

Hope to hear that you voted. Best of all God Bless America... hope I can post that.

Colleen

We have not been sure where we would be on election day for years and so have usually taken out absentee ballots and, even if we have stayed home, we vote early without problems. We voted last week for this election. We also agree with God Bless America!

Carol and Jim,

Could you explain how you get your ballots? We had talked to a friend before we left 5 weeks ago about helping us get absentee ballots. She didn't follow up on it so we will just combine things at the stick house with the vote day. The drive is about four hours away, so not to far. The trip might mean that we don't go home for Thanksgiving. Just would like to inform others that might be in our same circumstance, the process of go about casting their vote, what I think is duty of all americans. Again.... JMHO.

Thanks for your post.

Colleen

We have our "residence" in Livingston, TX. We download a form used to request an absentee ballot to be sent to wherever we are. This year we voted by absentee ballot from Desert Hot Springs, CA. In 2004 we were in Livingston and voted in person. There is no problem voting absentee if you have a legitimate residence somewhere. By legitimate residence, I mean where you are registered to vote, have your vehicles licensed and insured, and where you are licensed to drive. In our case, Texas.

Colleen,

We called the clerk of the township we live/vote in. We picked up application, which she would have mailed, no problem.

They will mail the ballot to us, and we mail back.

In Michigan, you can claim you are 60 years or older and that is reason enough to vote absentee. Al's mom is on a list for seniors that gets her ALL ballots automatically due to her age.

We voted early in Ohio.Last year for the primaries we voted absentee. Just called the home board of elections and they sent the ballot to Florida.

Colleen - We went to the township of our residence and asked for absentee ballot. In Michigan one can vote absentee if one thinks he/she is going to be out of town, ill, or are 60 years of age. Call your local city or township clerk and ask how you can do this. It can also be handled by mail. Kinda late to go through all this for the upcoming election by mail but call for this one and then you will know for the next. Best wishes.

We vote via absentee ballot. Looking at the Washington elections website, we found that the absentee ballots were mailed to our post office box on the 17th of October. We ordered our mail yesterday(10/21) which will be plenty of time for us to retrieve the mail and send the ballots back before the 4th of November.

Coleen,
I called the County Clerks office and they sent me an application, you can download by internet also, and I filled it out and sent it back. We each did that and received the mail in ballot quickly. In my case, I'm old, but you can do the same process in Texas by telling them that you will be away during the voting day.

Also, you can vote early in your county. Check with the County Clerk to find out the details. If you vote early, you can choose which weekend you want to travel home, vote on a Monday, and return to work on Tuesday.

Sorry to upset your vacation time at the stick house!

We vote by absentee ballot and have already done so for the upcoming election.

Remember it doesn't matter how you vote...JUST VOTE!!! This is probably one of the most important elections our country has ever encountered. Be sure to get out and vote. This is an American priviledge that our military are fighting for and giving their lives for in other countries!

We just call the County Clerk and have her send us the ballot wherever we may be. We have already voted.

We have managed to be in Tennessee for the Presidential elections and always vote early. We have already voted on the first day of early voting. Its very sad but I believe this election on 4 Nov 2008 will forever have a dark cloud over America due to the illegal voting and registering. When we voted we had to produce a drivers Lic and our voters registering card. GBY....

We did note some "unusual activity' at our board of elections when we early voted. A "nonpartisan" group was rounding up the homeless, ex felons and anyone else they coud find and busing them to the board of elections to register and vote. They were then provided with a good meal, some new clothing and a medical checkup. Nothing illegal at all..completely within the law..However we were a bit miffed as we could have used a good meal, some new tennie shoes and we were not feeling well. They would not let us get on the bus for the free meal.... In fact it cost us money to Vote.. fuel, lunch..why no freebies for us?????
