I don't know how the sensors work in the DIC to tell us when to change oil/fuel filters. The party line is that the oil filter change is based on a number of factors regarding how the truck is driven...towing, not towing, hot, cold, long idling time, short runs, cross country driving, etc. However, I've done several oil changes, the the DIC usually comes out to around 10k for the oil filter...regardless of my type of driving. I don't put much faith in it.

I had a 2003 Silverado 2500HD with the 6.0. I made a trip to Colorado and back pulling a cargo trailer. Very heavy coming back to TX. The DIC had to change oil at about 3500 miles. I had 4.10 gears and saw lots of high RPM, so I feel the oil change feature probably works pretty well. Seems on average on that truck it came on at about 7500 miles with average driving.

I just did some reading on the fuel filter minder. Kennedy Diesel says it is merely based on 15K miles, not on differential pressure.
