I'm so proud of our Church family..

I'm so proud of our Church family. We had a benefit for one of our Church members yesterday who had been fighting brain cancer for about 2 years. He had a wife and 2 children. Strangely enough, the Lord called him home about 4 a.m. yesterday and the benefit begn at 11 a.m. Many people didn't even know he had died until they got to the benefit. Our Church is rather small. We run around 160 for 11 a.m. services. Yesterday we raised of $31,000 for the family and Jeff's son who is a college freshman was absolutely surrounded by the young people of the Church when he showed up at the benefit for his dad. They sat wih him throughout the auction and tried to console him as best they could. I'm really proud of the tremendous outpouring on behalf of this family.

Dave, Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of the Church sharing love even in the face of death and loss. These three will endure forever: faith, and hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love. God is love and it is by this that all people know that we belong to God, because we love one another.

You have every reason to be proud of your Church family.

Thanks for the reaffirmation of both God's love and your Church's love, Dave. My sympathy is extended to the family, yet it sounds like God's love is working on overcoming the distress they are going through. I believe a strong church family is essential to the success of every family and I praise God for the fact that you do belong to a strong church family as evidenced by their generosity in a time of need.

A wonderful story of a loving and caring church family. I'm sure their grief was eased with the support and comfort they received. It brought tears to my eyes too..to think that the son could come to represent the family just hours after losing his dad. Blessings to that man's family and your church family.....a good example for all of us! Marilyn
