Why we are moving to AZ this year

This is why we are selling our house in CO and buying one in AZ. Then we can travel north during the summer.
This was last year in April 2005.

Dick would be in his glory. He's a snowboarder. When he retires next year we're moving to Montana!

Arizona is beautiful and I love it. Seems like you'll have the best of both worlds.

Dusty,

Ok I have to ask...... where in the heck in CO do you live? It's been a pretty mild winter here on the front range. My inlawa go to Phoenix, mostly stay there year round and it was already 96 last week. Of course that's when you come back home to CO!

We are looking forward to moving around to stay with the nice weather. Glen grew up in Iowa and has no desire to be around snow every again. Sounds like a good move to me.

That picture was last year. We live 12 miles south east of Parker. We are a 1000 feet higher than Denver so sometime we get more snow. Our trees leaf out later than in city. All the Crab Apple trees are in full bloom in Denver now but mine are just now beginning to grow little tiny leaves. Same with all the flowers.

As soon as our house sells, we are putting everything in storage. Loading up the Monty and heading to AZ to find a house with RV parking and a swimming pool!

I am sure glad I am not in that picture. If I had the choice of dealing with that or moving to AZ? I would be moving without question. =)

Dustytuu, nice photo of the snow. We like to only LOOK at it and that is why we have a winter home in Mesa, Az. I will have to tell you that, IMO that the summers in Az are as extreme as the cold up North.
That is why we spend 6 months in Az and travel North as the weather gets better.
Retire early and go with the sun!

You've got that right........ We leave Phoenix in May and come back in October. Even then, we get to "enjoy" some hundred degree days. Of course, it is a dry heat.

Patty, do you know yet what part of Montana you will be moving to? Maybe we'll be neighbors!

Ok, now I get it if it was LAST year! I'm in Castle Rock so I know what you mean because we're at 6300 feet.

One of my favorite places in Arizona is Lake Havasu City. I would live there in a flash if it were in the cards to do so. Absolutely beautiful. Lake Havasu has some of the best Striper Bass fishing in the country. About 80 miles of water to boat on and the water is quite warm in comparison to lake Powell and Mojave. Some very nice campgrounds, my favorite is Sandpoint marina or Cattail Cove State Park. The City is modern and clean. The people are quite friendly and unless things have changed there was very little crime.
Needless to say I hope my vision stays true and It is a place I can retire to.

Will have to keep that in mind, Lake Havasu City. We will visit there someday.

We plan on wintering in Oregon or Washington, maybe Montana. Or a different place every winter.

Husband has a lung problem and we are moving from our beloved Colorado to get him out of the high altitude here.

If we could just convince the kids to take our granddaughters and move to a warmer climate, we also would avoid the snow. But... when the choice is between the grandkids and kids for the winter holidays and warm weather, the kids and grandkids win every time.. This was this past December in the Kansas City area...

We have actually thought about the same thing. We could have a winter home in Arizona (We love Yuma and Lake Havasau) and spend the summer months in Washington State and we just may do that. We need to factor in the Kids and grandkids which are now 9 grandkids) in Washington State..........Les

Dusty: We are getting ready to sell our home in az. After kicking it around for about six months we decided to go full time. We arn't getting any younger or healthier. We live about 50 miles north of Tucson at about 4500' elevation, so its a lot cooler in the summer than Tucson. Good luck. Jack & Janet
