Reservations made for New Orleans at a STEEP price
There have been recent posts regarding the escalated costs associated with some campgrounds so in the interest of proving that insanity can overtake anyone anytime, consider this. Now granted, the only reason that this was done is we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. so cost is not an issue. I just called, reserved and paid for our trip from April 12-18th at Pontchartrain Landing RV Park in New Orleans. The site is one of two Presidential Sites at the park. Thanks to Steve Hunt, here is a photo of the view from the campsite we reserved:
Equipped with a nice patio, grill, bar area complete with fridge, fire pit and a nice view of the surrounding industrial zone. Now in consideration of the title of the thread, I am sure there is wanton curiosity as to the price for appears to be an upscale site. Weekdays are $153 and Weekends are $155. Oh well, we only live once. Now we just have to plan the itinerary. Preliminary focus is on Segway tours, Gondola Rides, Mississippi River Steamboat, Swamp Air Boats, shopping and of course food!!!

Could be a lot worse. Some Hotels are $155 per night! Have fun there but you'll be able to "return home" every evening.
DW and I will be driving to New Orleans end of September to start a week long cruise, then a few more days to tour New Orleans. We've been there for a couple of days in the past, but this time we're making a longer stay to enjoy the town more. Fun place, but we're expecting probably hot and humid.

I take it this reservation is not covered by membership in Passport America?? Either due to the time of year, or that fancy smancy wonderful campsite??
Rats on the savings.
Have a wonderful time!
Happy Anniversary!

Nope, I wish Carol, Presidential sites are not eligible for Passport America. Fortunately, savings is not on the agenda for this trip, DW is already setting aside a large portion of her paycheck for the trip! I told her as long as I get the swamp air-boat ride, that she could pick and choose the "romantic" aspects of the week (as long as it includes some goooood food!!

Congratulations! 25 years is great. If you have time, drive over to Abita Springs and tour the brewery. It's free and so is the beer

First of all congrats on the 25 years. But kinda cracks me up that there is just a $2 difference between weekdays and weekends when it costs that much lol lol .... Now if it was $35 a nite then $2 fits but $153 the $2 seems kinda silly lol lol .... Anyways y'all headed for New Orleans be careful and watch your backs. Since Katrina there are a lot of places that are no longer safe. That city has more than it's share of problems now.

Enjoy it Bingo. The DW and I just returned from DC and I would hate to tell you what we paid for the hotel room we had. After 25 years it is worth the price.

Congratulations on 25 years together! I've heard it said that a good marriage is when each person feels they got better than they deserved.
We wish you continued happiness, success and joy.

Bingo, although we've never met, I've enjoyed your input on so many threads out on the forum! Thanks to your DW for letting you spend the time on the computer instead of focusing on her!
Congratulations on 25 years! Reflect, enjoy each other's company, and focus on what's important, each other, for the enjoyment of life is being part of each other's past, present, and future!
P.S. LOVE the site. Going to start a new thread on upscale sites because of this post! Thanks again!!!

Congratulations Bingo and Cathy on your 25th. We have been to that RV stop and very close in to the French quarter, downtown New Orleans. We had a shuttle from the RV park which was very convenient. Enjoy your special time together.
