Wire Bracket on Slideouts

The flat plastic wire holders for the slide outs has now broken on two of my slide outs. This is the second time it has broken on my living room slide out and now the one on the kitchen has broken. I had the dealer replace the one on the large slide out the first time it happen but, now it is out of warranty no doubt as it is a 2007. Has any one had this problem and how hard is it to fix on my own? How do you get the wires through the holes?

I think there was a post with pictures of ways to repair this problem but it might have been over a year ago. I think they used hinges bolted to the plastic but not sure.

Here's what I did for the plastic guides that broke as the slideout ... I got the idea from the MOC membership. No problems since.

I used 4 1/2" hinges fastened to the metal slideout and the other side attached to the plastic guide. The toughest thing to do was drilling the holes in the metal. I used machine screws and nuts to fasten it all together. I did this on three slides in my rig. If you need more details, PM me.

I don't understand your question about getting the wires through the holes? Does my picture show what you are really asking about?

I did the same repair as Art when one of ours broke, no problems since. I picked up the hinge and hardware needed at Home depot and it took less then an hour.

Me too, used 4 inch galvanized gate hinges and 1/4 inch bolts and self tapping screws. Has lasted the last 4 years. a can of black rustoleum to make it pretty......

If you know anyone on the farm that has a bailer, you can usea section of the bailer belt to replace the plastic. Mine haven't broke yet but I carry a section of belt with me when I'm on the road just incase! Guess it's the old Boy Scout in me-- Be Prepared!

I did the hinge repair also and have never had a problem since. I'm not the most handy person around, ask Louise, but if I could do it, anyone can.

I used some long zip ties and a screen door spring to keep the one on our Mountaineer out of harms way.
