Recalculating

I remember the old days very clearly, I would have the old folding maps all over the front seat, then they came out with the book-maps, but it was still difficult to go to an address.
Sometimes I have 5 or 6 addresses to go to, now I plug all of them in and it routs me, then saves the addresses, pretty cool.
There are draw-backs; I never knew there were so many Places, drives, lanes, streets, terraces, courts and so on, you better enter it right, or you will end up someplace that does not have a broken furnace. Garbage in, wrong side of town out.
I have found myself telling ‘her’ that I have to get gas, quit telling me where to drive, I say to the dash.
When I first got it, I was talking to Sue on the phone when ‘she’ wanted me to turn right at the next intersection, Sue said who is that?
‘She’ has no manners at all, when I am talking on the phone, there is no pause in the directions.
I thought it would be neat to have Paula Dean step in and be the voice. “Now Y’all don’t forget to turn right up here”
Maybe it could crack a few jokes on long stretches, call you by name; “Hey Jim, did you hear the one about the GPS that pronounced recalculate Recqualcuate? It was made in Japan..”
You could have a thermostat in it, when it’s hot and you get in the truck, it could tell you to hurry up and turn the A/C on, or tell you around noon to don’t forget to stop for lunch.
On second thought it is irritating enough as it is.

Ozz,

Here is a link to a program that you can re-program the words that "she" says.

http://forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php?t=7824

Very easy to do, I did it on my Garmin.

I just want the Paula Dean laugh in my GPS for when I screw up. That would sure make me feel better about it cuz I love her laugh. She also makes the best Vidalia Onion salad dressing I have ever tasted but I wouldn't want to use it on my GPS.

Sorry, no, but if you can spell some of her words, you can add them in.

Ozz... just wait till you get one that interfaces with your phone.. ( microsoft sync ) we were taking a trip to ft myers yesterday to go to the hockey game (GO BLADES) and my buddy calls me... I answer it by touching the screen on the dash.... while getting directions from "her".

...it actually was pretty nice not having to dig my phone out of my pocket while driving!

Not that you don't have enough on your plate, are you doing stand-up comedy at night? My problem if Paula Dean's voice were on our "Stella," is I would always be turning her off -- just like I do on the food channel. Can't get that Paula turned off quick enough -- her voice is just so irritating (to me). See? Difference is what makes us all unique! LOL
