Tire Rack.com?

Anyone tried this company, looks pretty good. They send the tires to your local approved installer, (I imagine some tire sellers wouldn't want to do business with them)
You may get the same price from the local tire company, don't know.

I bought some tires from this outfit about 2003 I think it was. That was before they had it set up for places to mount them for you. I was very happy with the purchase and the transaction as all went smoothly. I have my own shop and had them sent to my home. Mounted them myself on a pickup that I owned....JB

I don't know Ozz, their web page only listed one positive recommendation. For me, I like to touch and feel before ordering something like tires. Of course, I'm the guy that bought Asian tires even after seeing and talking to the salesman.

I use them often. Good prices, good service.

I have them sent direct to my local America's Tire(Discount Tire).

Also, America's Tire will price match Tire Rack (add the mount and balance charges), if you bring in their quote, and will order them for you.

I heard they are the # 1 tire distributor in the U.S. and also heard they have the best prices.American Honda started buying all there replacment tires in Minneapolis from them and nobody in town can match their prices.

I use them to compare my local dealers prices. Many times local dealers will match Tire Rack's pricing. I have had friends buy from them and use their network to have the tires installed - no problems.

Thanks folks. I will try them when it gets closer to us hitting the road. I don't want to buy new tires and have them sit for 8 month's. I also may get their price and see if NTB will match it...

I've looked at Tirerack before, but I'm thinking that's kind of like buying a Montana here in East TX and expecting good warranty service from another dealer down on the coast.

I checked The Tire Rack before I bought my last tires, 20 inch Michelin's for my truck. After I paid for shipping, mounting the tires I could buy local for the same money. I would rather give my money to somebody I know.

I think that may be the key, getting the Tire Rack price, then give the local guy the chance to match it. That may not be his normal mark-up, but he can still make some profit, and get you to come back for other services or products.

Ozz, we purchased Michelin A/T 2 (4)tires for our truck. I did call and discussed with the rep but knew what I wanted before hand. My local dealer in Waynesville NC could not match the price and that included shipping, tax, etc. There is no tax on Tirerack orders but a shipping price for all four tires combined. Tires were delivered UPS to my home. I did not use their recommended installer locally. You can do your math and decide. My local dealer, (small town) said he too would probably get his online if needed. The mounting was $15 per tire by him.

I also got a $70 Rebate Amer. Express card after my purchase of the 4 tires.

I find Tirerack to be responsive, competitive and professional as it related to my transaction. Dennis

Two months ago I purchased 6 tires for Tire Rack. They shipped them to my house and I made arrangements with Big O to mount and balance. Great buy, great selection and great service. I'll use them again without hesitation.
