Norcold Recall

Received my Norcold recall notice in the mail today. But, because of this forum, I was able to find out about the recall and get the coach to the dealer. Repairs have been made and I pick up my coach on Monday.

Thanks MOC!!!!

Norcold is giving them 1/2 hour labor to do the job, however it took my guy about an hour, this was the first one he did. It was quite a job, a new heat sensor attached to the burner tube, some kind of a control module and some changing of the wiring.

This forum is great. I haven't even registered the fridge yet, but already had the fix done at the dealer. Got the rig back today from the camera installation (another thread will have photos) and they also addressed the Norcold fix. Cool deal and Kudos to the dealer for taking care of it even before they had been notified of the recall!

Thanks for the info...we have an appointment for the 23d of this month to do ours...wanted to know if it was one of those three week things or could we actually wait to pick it up, saving another trip to the dealer.

Our service writer said that it is a really cheap part but that it did take the tech about an hour to make the fix. It was their first Norcold fix as well.

The good news for me is that the dealer/tech we are taking ours to has apparently done "many" of these fixes. The guy that does the scheduling said they had asked for the repart kits to be sent in lots of 500 (!), but said they are "only" getting lots of 30-40 at a time. So it appears they have a lot of experience...I hope!

According to the notice I received from NORCOLD, a "High Temperature Sensor" needs to be installed on the refrigerator. You can call 800-767-9101 or go to norcoldrecall.com for more info. The tel number is good Mon-Fri and so far, I have not been able to go past the initial website for additional information...too may people trying to access it? Good luck.

It's a 1 hour fix, didn't even need to unhitch.

To see if your refrigerator is affected go to: http://www.norcoldrecall.com/ It shows you pictures of where to find your refrigerator model number and lists the production years affected for both the 2 door and 4 door models.
Mine is not affected by the recall.

Well, with mfg years of 1997 to 2010, and serial numbers from 700,000 to over 13 million, I'll bet if you have model number 1200, 1201, 1210 or 1211, your unit is on the list.

There is also a recall on the free standing N600 and N800 model 1802 with a much shorter list. I have read a lot on this fix and it has been reported as little as 15 minutes up to an hour and a half. It depends on the experience of the technicians.

I received the recall notice two days ago, Friday the 12th at 4 p.m. {Even an SOB is not excluded from the recall) My Dealer ordered it the day I received the recall and at my request, 2nd day air. Wednesday the 17ths the RV will go to the shop and have the work performed. So far I have been happy with the rapidity on the dealer's part, and Norcold.

Call the number on the web site NORCOLD Recall with the model and serial number of the refrigerator and the serial number of the coil. They will be able to tell you if you need to have the kit installed. Or, 800-767-9101

Good luck.
