Newb?

We just got done looking @ the Mountaineer 345DBQ and wanted to know if this is too big for our TV. Our TV is a 08 Dodge 3500 MC- SRW, 4x4, auto.

Your truck will handle that unit with no problem.

Time to give up on the looking part and begin with the hitching up part. You have plenty of truck for that rig. good luck with your decision.

My GVWR= 10100#
Curb weight=7404#
GCVWR= 21000#
With me, wife, 2 kids, & dog won't the pin weight be too much (2390# empty)?

I have the same truck but an 06. The only thing you might be close on will be the RAWR. I had to invest in airbags to level it out.... Put it on a scale and figure out what your pin weight is going to be. Without water in the back of the camper mine put me on my helper springs before air bags. Happy camping......

My RAWR=6100#

If I do the GVWR - driver- curb weight-passengers-hitch-misc I come up with +/- 1800 lbs left for payload/pin weight. Is this correct or do I go off RAWR?

It would appear you may be over on your GVWR, depending on how much, you, wife, kids, dogs and fuel weigh. It also appears if you load your trailer to max, you may be over on GCVWR also (although slightly on both). Your weight looks like you do not have the diesel as your numbers should be higher with a diesel. If you do have a diesel I would recheck your numbers making sure you use the 5th wheel charts and not just the trailer charts.....It should be noted that the RV Safety Education Foundation (RVSEF), stated that approximately 51% of people towing are doing so overweight in one area or another or many....Visit their website at www.rvsafety.com . My information is based on the numbers you provided and the numbers on the current Keystone website for the 345DBQ Mountaineer.......

It is a diesel. Where do I get the 5th wheel chart? I'll check out rvsafety.com. Thanks for all the input. I just don't want to get too big of a 5th wheel that's not safe for my TV.

Look on the Tire and Loading Information sticker on the left side door frame. It will tell you the total cargo capacity for your truck...that's a good place to start. That figure is the total weight of everything you can put in your truck.
