Exclamation New owner genery

Hello. I’m a new owner of a 2003 Montana 3280. The generator has not been started in 5 years. I siphoned out the gas. Any tips before I start. Thinking about changing the oil. Do not have an owners Manuel. What kind and weigh would this Oman generator take? Thanks for any help

Welcome to the forum. You should be able to get the manual from the Onan site. Best of luck.

Welcome to the forum! You do need to find a manual online. Besides running the generator frequently, it also must be run under load to exercise the charging part. The manual should give you some ideas on how to get it back in service.

I had an external genny. I would run it empty and try to drain any excess fuel from the carb. The next year it wouldn't start. I was using Ethanol gas which will plug up the carb. Cost me $150-250 to have it fixed.

After that I started using Ethanol free gas. A little hard to start after sitting for 6-12 months but it starts after 4-5 pulls on cord.

Always treat the fuel with a stabilizer such as Stabil.
