what is this?

We just got our third Montana, a new to us 2017 3720RL. It has these small plastic covers to the left of each slide. They are silicone on but have provisions for 2 screws and are about 1.5 inches in diameter. There is nothing on the inside opposite. I don't remember seeing it on other Montanas.

This will be interesting if someone knows. I'd bet on something installed by the last owner. Our 2017 has nothing like that.

This may be shield/pad to prevent damage from an anti-billowing device for the slide toppers, where the anti-billowing device is locked in place when the slide topper is retracted. I've seen something like this on "carefree" slide toppers.

We had the toppers installed as part of the deal. They are Carefree, I'll have to get the install instructions. My old Carefree had an arm on the end but these don't.

Dick, I don't remember seeing them in the first walk around but I'm not as observant as I used to be.

Joe got it right! According to the install instructions there is a plunger that pushes against the plate when it's closed to prevent billowing. I just didn't see it!
