2010 Montana carpet cleaning

Hello,
We are new to RV’s, and just purchased a 2010 Montana with carpeting. The previous owners had a couple of small dogs. What is the best method to clean the carpets? Can they be cleaned just like the carpet in a home?

Just like the carpet at home. Have a professional clean them.

I’m cleaning the carpet in our rig this weekend and use our Bissell Proheat carpet cleaner. It’s supposed to be close to 100 this weekend and very dry, 7% humidity right now so the carpet will dry very quick. I clean the carpet at least twice a year, vacuum regularly in between.

I also use a store purchased carpet cleaner but use the "zero res" water in place of carpet cleaning soap. The "zero res" water can be purchased in 5 gallon jugs and does a pretty good job. This avoids carpet cleaner residue being left in the carpet and keeps the carpet clean longer. The carpet cleaner can attract dirt if not totally removed.
