LOST KEYS TO MONTANA DOORS
IT FINALLY HAPPENED! I have lost one of the two sets of keys that came with the unit. I have tried to get key blanks at Home Depot, a Locksmith, and four hardware stores. None of these places have or can order the blanks. The dealer said the fix is to install new door locks. The two blanks that I need are CF328 for the door and CH751 for the storage bins. Has anybody been in this situation. If so,what did you do?

My dealer gave me an extra storage key when I asked for it.... I have been locked out of another unit and had to get help to get back in, but never lost keys. Hard to believe you can't get them from Keystone. I know the one key opens them all... the other I can't believe each and every one is different. I just found out my front door key (to house) is the same as my Aunt's.... who knew.

Most RV stores carry both the blank keys as well as the cut keys. CH751 is the most common key out there for RV's. My dealership had a box full of 751's, and gave me a handful for free!

Our Locksmith told us they do not hold the blanks for RV doors. We however had no trouble getting blanks from our dealer and our locksmith cut the keys for us.

the 751 is a very common key you can get almost anywhere. as for the door keys they are a little harder to come by. our local lock smith had no keys to fit, but the dealer recomended a specialty dealer where they get their keys made, and they had no problem what so ever.

check with your local dealer and see if there is a place that they get keys made. our dealer was constantly losing keys and needing to get some made. the lock smith they sent me to had some in stock.

Our local hardware store had the blanks for the keys when I wanted to have some made last year. The only difference was the blanks did NOT have the black plastic on them, big deal, huh!The extra set is kept in the truck, just in case, look for the blanks without the plastic, they work fine.

Our local locksmith used a Nissan blank and cut it for the door and it works fine. We went to Camping World and replaced the storage door locks with the circular keys like are used on vending machines because we kept breaking the 751's in the locks.

This happened to me after returning from a trip (not towing) a couple of months ago. I lucked out by calling the local Keystone dealer and they gave me the name of a local locksmith that could come to my site and make new keys.
$68 later I was back in Miss Montana!
Losing Keys is something I do best. I always have this dialog in my head about, "You need to get more keys made, you need to get more keys made and hide them somewhere" about a week before I lose my keys".
I think I will forever listen to that little voice. Right now I have hidden keys. I have stashed keys. I have Keys!!!

David ... This is a little late for your problem, but maybe someone else might be able to use this info ... on the day we took delivery of our Montana, we lost ALL the keys. Long, long story ... but we learned that if you remove the door plate (the black thingy around the door handle) there is an 800 number and a key number. If you call, they will send you two keys for $5.
Glad you got your problem resolved.

Vicki is being gracious. 'I' lost the keys on the way home from the dealer.

I didn't have any trouble buying key blanks from my supplier for the Monty, I got 100 blanks. but the do seem to stick you for the each price, the seiies that my Monty has is CF-300 series and the ILCO key blank # is 1617 & FIC1 There are several diferant keyways I'll look them up sometime soon and put them out there for your use to give to the locksmith in your area to purchase key blanks.

TT2, may I ask what you intend to do with 100 keyblanks for the Montana? Curious minds...
Thanks.

Well of course you can ask.
I'm a craft supervisor and have the lockshop staff for my employees, you know as well as I do that there might be an influx of Montana fifth wheels trailers, and they could be purchased by the government services department "Somewhere?" and with 911, and be prepaired moto, I felt it necessary to purchase these keys and have avaiable, "Just" In Case Management needed a duplicate key,
Of course the key I purchased just happened to fit the lock on my trailer, lucky me.

Thank you, TT2. I couldn't imagine why an individual would need or even want 100 of the same keyblank unless there were a profit to be made somewhere. I thought maybe you found a get-rich-quick scheme and wanted to have an early opportunity to jump onboard!
