I haven't had any problem with shorts in the last 5 years since I replaced bulbs.

Replaced all interior bulbs (12 v and 110v) with LED's two years ago. Can't get over how much more light we have and how much cooler the interior stays during warm times. Used the company in CA recommended on MOC. I use Southwest Wheel in San Antonio for a lot of "trailer" work-both on the Monte and two other trailers I own (not RV body stuff, but a lot more-they installed new Dexter Axles, the Level Up, and much more) and they have told me that for the exterior fixtures you are better off just replacing the fixture when you figure in fading from UV, etc. Just my $.02.

I also installed two reds on both sides, replacing the backup lights with the second red lights, and then installed white LED light bars on the bike hitch bar for the backup function. Did you use a resistor ? My understanding is you need to install a resistor to keep them from hyper blinking when the directional is on.. just curious its a upgrade I'm considering too

No resistor needed. I think the only time you might need something different would be on an automobile that has an old fashioned light duty blinker relay. With the heavy duty relays in these trucks, that are capable of handling extra signal loads, they don't have a problem with the LED units.

Yes, but the computer may mis-diagnoise a bulb out and give you the hyper-blink to tell you. Is what he is referring to.

Ours has factory LED tail and turn and we do not have hyper-blink. I do not know if they have installed a resistor.

Is is there a cross reference from duel Filament bulbs to LED to order on line ?

Not sure you can get a dual filament style LED bulb. More likely, the entire fixture should be replaced with one that has the LED's built in. The LED fixtures have the LED's spread fully around the lens area so you get the most light from the fixture.

Got a great deal on tail LED fixtures. Your comments are making it fun for me to work on our rig. Thanks

I'm really thinking that the manufacturers of these LED units have done whatever is needed to compensate for these issues, as there is a circuit board in these units that the LED's are attached to, so there are probably any necessary other components to make them work properly.

This is the style I used but I think I got them from Napa and paid a little more but I was wanting to make sure they were very close to fitting and I still needed a Dremel to hone the hole out a little.

I just replaced ours because the metal rims on the originals were becoming heavily rusted from camping near the ocean. It's a pretty easy task as others have mentioned. I decided to keep the backup lights. These are what I used. They have a plastic rim so I don't have to worry about them rusting any more.

just used existing wire and sealed the pockets no blinker issues off you go. Nice change out, looks better than the original. Thanks for sharing.

By the ocean my kine of white noise. I have a hard time finding a space near a lake.
