5.1 Surround Sound Blown

I have a 3000RK and last weekend we blew the speakers. Our system has (3) 2-1/2" square speakers cut into the wood frame above the tv and two rear channel speakers hanging from the ceiling. These are the left, right and center channel speakers. I have replaced the original stereo receiver with a Yamaha RV-V485. I guess we got a little over zealous over the Labor Day weekend, 4 of the five speakers are blown.
Does anyone else have this set up and have you had to replace or upgrade your speakers? There has to be a better way to get a better sound system in this rig, whether it be mounting a sound bar and different rear speakers or something else. Let me know what you have done. Pictures would be great. If anyone needs pictures of my set up, I can get them.
Thanks,
Igoo65

Wow! I guess you did get "a little over zealous" if you blew out your speakers. Glad I wasn't parked next to you.
My old no name home theater system died years ago. Similar setup to yours with the three speakers in the cabinet above the TV and two speakers in the rear of the trailer with sub woofer in a cabinet above the TV. I found a 5.1 Bluray DVD home theater system at Best Buy that the base unit was very nearly the same size as my OEM unit and fit perfectly in my cabinet. But the included speakers were slightly larger and I had to enlarge the cabinet openings slightly to get them in and add some supports behind to hold them. And I had to make some mounts to hang the rear speakers as the OEM mounts would not work with the new speakers. I could have bought some new mounts but the price was pretty high on what I could find and so I made some from some miscellaneous scrap I had laying around. The whole process was really not too big of a deal.

Yes we were a little loud. Thank God the people that were around us were all friends and present when it happened. Your replacement sounds good and I will keep an eye out for a surround system that will be close to working.

Our 3121rl came with the all so common Jensen stereo and TV's. We immediately scrapped them all.

I removed the Jensen stereo in the LR and replaced it with a Bose Solo 5 Soundbar. I used luan plywood and 3/4" square wood to make a frame to fill the remainder of the hole left. We replaced the TV with an LG 4K of the same size.

Put a smaller 28" Continu.us TV and another Bose Solo 5 in the bedroom. The smaller TV allowed me to put the Bose in the cabinet under the TV.

Both are connected via optical audio cable (neither Jensen TV had optical output).

The difference in sound and picture is remarkable.

All of the speakers in and out are now non functional.

The OE speakers are probably only rated for 10-20 watts per channel. The Yamaha receiver puts out 80...

I stripped the Jensen receiver and speakers. The factory system speakers were only rated at 4W per speaker. You could not hear anything and there were no lows to speak of. I put in a Pioneer Car A/V DVD receiver and a 4-channel amp with 75W per channel for the front and rear channels. I used 6x8 car stereo speakers rated for 100W RMS per channel. I mounted two of them in the cabinet and the rears float in boxes. I installed a 12" sub powered by a separate 300W amp behind the recliners.

I have a similar 2.1 setup for the outside system. I mounted the receiver and amp to the ceiling of the front pass-through. I have an additional 12" sub there.

We don't bump it too hard, but sometimes we flex at the lake.

Ditto - the Bose solo speaker.
Mine sits on the shelf behind the TV.
It sounds great. Admittedly we have not tested the limits of volume for the Bose yet.

I just picked up the JBL Bar 5.1 true cordless system, the sound bar has 2 cordless rechargeable speakers that detach from it for the rear surround, plus the sub is wireless also. The sub is going behind the fireplace & the rears reattach magnetically to the sound bar, very clean & neat looking. Hoping to install this week end & try it out, the reviews seemed pretty good & I don't have to modify the existing system, makes it easy come trade in time.

I suspect that your issue may have stemmed from impedance mismatch. Most rv systems have 4 ohm speakers and drive electronics. Most real home theater electronic systems use 8 to 16 ohm output drivers that are selectable in setup mode. Some can range to a low of 6 ohms. My onkyo is one of those, so I can run the 4 ohm speakers at lower volumes until I buy real speakers that are impedance matched and of much better quality...of course way more money.

Installed the jbl system today, wow, what a difference! Surround works great, no wires to the rears or sub, sound is great and it's almost invisible, pics to follow.

Ok, after using this for a few hours I have to say we love it, very clear audio, blows sway the sonous system we have at home. A big plus is no wifi necessary, which i hate with sonous, Bluetooth for music or computer, no just have to learn it and dial it in. Best 500 bucks i spent in a while.

I have to neaten it up a bit but I think it looks good & having the sub behind the fire place was a big plus. The cordless rechargeable rear speakers were just made for a camper.

Also nothing from the original set up had to be disconnected, it's a stand alone system off a separate HDMI, so if we trade or sell it comes right out. Now might have to replace the tv, one with apps & a better picture would be great, also there is no HDMI ARC which would simplify things.

What's going on in the top pic? Is the sound bar in front of the TV, if so how do you swivel it? It also looks like the TV itself is tilted; have you modified that?

My setup looks similar to yours. I added a Polk Audio sound bar with wireless sub - never thought about behind the fireplace but I know where it's going to live now.

That is a nice set up. What is the model number for the JBL?

I will sign any petition to outlaw any sound emanating from a trailer. If I want to hear music I would stay home or use earphones.

Really!

We're talking about a 300 square foot trailer on a 12x40' piece of ground. Sounds like some good old fashion camping.
