Well, why not. It's 10 years old.
After a long summer it finally got cold enough to fire up the furnace in the mornings. This particular morning it was actually cold enough to also fire up the fireplace to help warm up the living room. Well, the decorative flames work the backlight works, but the heat has quit. No matter how high the heat knob, no heat. I detect that telltale electronic burn smell so I'm pretty sure it's toast. Late last winter, the EdenPure heater also finally died.
I will be taking out the heater just to take a look, but I'm pretty sure the heater part of this Dimplex is toasted. The EdenPure is thrown away and now we are only left with the central furnace for heat. We hope for a calm winter here in Southern California until we can purchase replacement heater to help out the central propane furnace if it gets too cold.
The good news is that DW cuddles more.

Feel for ya, Art. Time to break out the retire-bucks from your stash and invest in a cheap ceramic heater!! There are a ton of reliable economical heaters available out there until you figure out the fireplace replacement.

When you get it opened up, look at one end of the heating coils. You will notice the remains of a bi-metallic thermal breaker. If you jumper across the same way the breaker did, the heating function will work again. Of course, you won't have the overheating protection anymore and I wouldn't run it while not around or sleeping...but it will get it online while a new heat assembly can be delivered from dimplex. Would tell you the part number and price of the assembly (heating coils and fan) but can't find the paperwork now that I want it, dang it. John

Art, for the dimplex in our monte, the part number was 2000330100RP and we paid 181.41 for the assembly from dimplex. Our model dimplex is nbdf2608, but same part used for df2608, df2622ss, and df2622blk. Probably others as well. John
