Fix to cooking vent fan issue

Like others I have the problem of the microwave vent fan making the cook top burner flames dance around and blow heat back into your face. At the MOC Mid Atlantic Rally, several of us had the problem and Scott had the solution.

On the outside vent cover there are two middle support to keep the plastic vent cover stiff. The one at the mouth that you see with the vent off is NOT the problem. With the vent on high the plastic vent flap will open all the way, but behind that flap is another middle support that is vertical and that one is keeping the metal vent flap from opening completely. I trimmed that one completely away and now the metal vent opens more so that the flames on the cook top do not jump around and there is much less heat coming into the room.

I think I could improve the opening more with some trimming of the metal flap at the corners, but that will have to wait until I find a "round to it".

Sounds like a winner. If you find a good outlet for some inexpensive "round to it's" please post. I could use a couple of dozen.
