Dodge Brake Controller

Does anyone know who makes the Ram integrated brake controller? Also, how we'll does it work? My new 2013 has the integrated controller. I really liked the one in my 2008 Chevy, which is the Prodigy I believe.

At last check the one in my 2006 Ford is a Prodigy, too. Unfortunately I hear it could have problems with hydraulic (not electric brakes). It was explained to me that Prodigy did develop it for the Ford and therefore might work different than an off-the-shelf Prodigy.

I also need to mention, it did not work with a five pin boat trailer (even with a 5-pin to 4-pin adapter). I towed a 36' ocean worthy boat (12' tall and wrapped with heavy duty white plastic)from Monroe, WA (north of Seattle) to Long Beach, CA with NO trailer brakes. This was Wednesday morning and it needed to be in Long Beach before noon on Friday. Since there was a time crunch the manufacturer approved me to do this instead of trying to figure out what was wrong since I had enough experience with towing and he trusted I would get it there safe and sound which I did, WHEW!

Hopefully a Dodge or GMC/Chevy will fare better with their integrated controllers.

My Ram integrated brake controller worked ok with they magnetic brakes but I fell it works better with the electric/hydraulic brakes. It is four different setting on the Dodge: low and high (weight) for Magnetic and again for electric/hydraulic.
I was never comfortable/confident with the trailer magnetic brakes with either of my trucks (03/12) and two different controllers.

Mine is the older Dodge controller that currently isn't adjustable (I'm going to see if it can be "flashed" when I get home) and it works fine with the Monty both before and after we installed disk brakes.

Just returned from a 3000 mile trip with my new 2012 Dodge with the integrated brake, pulling a 3402RL and it worked flawlessly, I found it smooth when going slow and yet able to lock up the trailer wheels on loose gravel. I Encountered everything from easy braking to emergency full on stopping and no problem. What you will like the most on the new vehicle though is the exhaust brake, you will do most of your braking with that, it is IMHO the best there is.

I had a prodigy with my '04 Silverado and the integrated controller on my '08 and liked them both. After I get my truck, I'll check back for what settings everyone is finding to work best.

And don't forget to tell us all about your new ride, too. These new trucks by all three are awesome. It's fun to read you are going all out in prep for your retirement. Good stuff!
